How many of you guys out there have the first issue? I spotted this one on Ebay for an outragous price. I actually have 3 issues of this . I paid somewhere between $200.00 and $500.00 for my issues.

Bobby Encinas huh? Wow, wonder if that's really him....

I have this issue as well, along with most if not all the first 2 years.

If someone pays for it, it would not be an outragous price. happy.gif

I thought Brian Lewis had a box of those uncirculated magazines...he seems to raffle a "new uncirculated" copy of this magazine at every bmx gathering...$2K is outrageous!!!
B. Apold
ya, 2k for a mag. yikes. But then again, try and find one (other us guys).

Hey Mikey.. Yes , that's Bobby Encinas.. and Juan.. sorry bro, you bought a bogus deal if you really thought that was the ONLY uncirculated copy .. I have a few as do a few other people.. I helped ship those babies right out of Oz's garage on Arvada St in 1976.... It was Oz, RL , Windy and myself.. The Crew! Of course a few of each issue was set aside.. We KNEW HISTORY was being made.. OZ's vision was crystal clear and unmatched to this day.. PERIOD!!!!

This is not extrange to me any more, I'm still the guy that overpays for everything and believe in what some people likes to call "the true history" of BMX memorabilia wacko2.gif

Still, a nice piece to have hanging on a museum wall to_take_umbrage.gif

I bought my copies off Ebay about 6 years ago. I remember I got one for like $350.00 and was stoked!,,, Then about 2 weeks later another one appeared on Ebay. I got it for about $175.00... The best deal i've ever gotten from Ebay.
Then about a year later, another one.. I paid about $400.00 I had money back then...

But it was a good investment. I had Oz sign the cover at Rockford. This is the best and most rare magazine in BMX history. I'm glad I have my copies... I got them in plastic bags in a box...

There is just certain BMX stuff, that is too good to let go. I think one day, i'll sell 2 of my copies, but it will be a few years.. But i'll always keep one. I think they will actually go for $2,000. in a few years. Why not,, this is the cream of the crop...

I had Byron Friday's copy of issue #1 in my posession for over 20 years.
I gave it back to him and he sold it a week later. LOL!!!!!!.

An old friend of mine was recently diagnosed with cancer, and he's now undergoing treatment. Last week he stopped by with this magazine. BMX Action issue #1 and asked me if he could get anything for it. It's in great shape... he's had it since day 1.
He'd rather have cash now to pay bills since he's not working, so I told him that I would look into it.
Well... I found that info right here!
Looks like he can make a few bucks with it.... should be good for an electric bill!

In 1976, I was 6 years old, I rode a Rampar, I was in 1st grade Hell and had no knowledge of BMX until a year later. I would see copies in the news stand and ignored them, but I remember. I didn't get my first copy of BMX Action until 1983, after I already had a Silver Streak, and I remembered being absolutely blown away by Bob Haro's artwork and the woderful photography of OZ. BMX Action was always head and shoulders above the rest. Quality.

It changed my life forever, I am cretain.

OZ, bring it back in it's/your old format. -Best 10 years of BMX.

Yes, I agree when I saw the issue at my bike shop it blew me away! Color, great photography, articles, products, tests, ads, etc.! Have all of them and as you can see a few duplicates of each.

I tell you what. I wouldnt mind having a "circulated" issue. especially one addressed to someone like say, OM, or Stu, you get my drift here right.???

I know that I have some Circle Track Racing Mags with pics of myself in them, that wont see the light of day till I get them framed correctly. I went out and bought those mags off the newstands so I could read the rest of the Mag as soon as I saw the pics. I dont know if thats "weird", but I thought at the time that Id rue the day I couldnt find that issue anymore, kinda like what happened as a kid. I believe I was in 7-8 mags as a kid and CONTINUE to look to this day for those issues, I have no clue what issues they were. 81-86' BMXA/BMX PLUS/Super BMX. I still remember being so PROUND of those dang things that I cut out the pages and TAPED them to the wall!!!!! What the world was I thinking? I know when my mom saw them on my wall, around 1990, she cried. I remember thinkng, gee, whats her prob? One of them was her and I standing (in the crowd). It was a "parting shot" next to the fold out VANS 1/2 pipe in Shawnee, OK. It was on 6-24-82. Anyone have a scan of that by chance??

To be honest, I didnt really care too much about it till I came across this website. Thats the day I really started to realize what we all meant to the sport at that time. How our parents were so GREAT for the time and effort they put in. My dad worked the gate. which at one point was still done with just a ROPE!! HOLY COW!! I know my mom did registration. There would have been no track if not for those type of people, and I thank them every so often. They think Im weird, and theyre right!

BMX is being out there, living it.. Those memories. Sure I have magazines and old bikes. But that's all nothing to living it, and being there when it all happens. Who didn't cut up they're magazines? I remember my wall just being filled with pics from BMXA and BMX Plus. The memories I have of riding, my BMX trophies will always be worth more than any magazine or bike.. That's why I got back into racing. It's too much fun to let go..

King of Pipeline, where do you live? I now reside in Moorhead, MN.

For the record the mag had no bidders on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...=tab%3DWatching

I guess not even rabid Old School BMXers with lots of disposable income didn't think it was worth it. They must be waiting for that mint condition Mongoose with genuine Moto Mags. laugh.gif

And by the way also for the record it was Two Wheeler's Brian Lewis on the cover, and not Bobby Encinas.

Nope. From Bicycle Motocross Action December 1976/January 1977 Volume 1 Number 1 page 4 the table of contents page bottom:

"COVER: Two Wheeler's sponsored Brian Lewis flat-tracking the sweeper at Corona. Amazing photo by the amazing Windy."

Besides Bobby Encinas was sponsored by Shimano at the time. That is definitely not a Shimano Sales Corporation jersey the racer on the cover has on.

It's Bobby Encinas selling the magazine with Brian Lewis on the cover. How I became the voice of reason is beyond me.
