Back a couple of years ago I joined the vintage team and sported my jersey at the races for a year or so . I never saw my name added to the roster and I think the site link is gone now . Is there still a team , is there still a site . I still list vintage as one of my sponsors at events . Am I alone or are any of team still racing ? If there is still a team am I on the support team or national team , Whats up ?

This is one of those strange "back in the day" situations...like when Pemberton allowed three different formulas for Coca-Cola to be produced and bottled.

The team has no official tie to the site. Ironically, I put in a "I want to be on the team" request off their site a few weeks ago, and have gotten a few automated responses saying "are you up to the challenge of joining this team?"

I love the idea of it, and the uniforms are Tee-rick!

Aside from that, I know nothing about it.

Best,

M

Contact Scot Mckay about the Vintage team stuff. I think he was running it, when it was active. I know that with a new wife, kid, and career... he has been kinda busy lately.

His log in name is "Scot McKay", if you wanna find him here.
Bill Curtin
There was a dedicated a page for the team on this site and then Scot went and created a new team dedicated site . From that point on, the team sort of went into silent running.

I was tempted to let this one ride for a while just to see what kind of hilarious rumors got started.

But that's not really my style...

The team still very much exists. Most if not all of the sponsors are still on board, although they change out the people who are in charge of sponsorship gigs here and there so there may be a surprise in store here and there.

The site, for which http://get.radwith.us is the correct URL, is still up but the roster hasn't been updated lately.

You can indeed still join the team, and the info for that is on the site. The info in the autoresponder messages still are in effect. Animal designs prints jerseys and ships within four to six weeks.

There are still National and Support Team designations.

When started, the team was not directly controlled by VBMX.com but I worked in careful collaboration with Bill and Hal.

I understand that ownership of this site has changed, and I suppose continued logo usage is up to them. We've always been fastidious about maintaining a strong image for the site and our sponsors, and would be happy to continue. That said the new owners haven't reached out to me or vice versa so if we need to rename the team we will, but I sure hope that we can work something out.

Cheers,

Scot McKay

Hey Scot,

Thanks for checking in. I think what you're doing is great, and definitely want to keep the team in full VBMX colors!!

I did, in fact, reach out to you a couple weeks ago (check your database), by posting a "I want to be on the team" form (it was the only way I knew to get in touch with whomever was running things, as I did not have your direct contact info). When I didn't hear back (well, I did hear back with a few automated messages--nice touch...you'll have to give me your secrets on that), I assumed maybe you guys had put things on hold.

Indeed, I hope we can enhance team VBMX's role here on the site in the coming months! You and I can touch base on that (PM me your contact info and I will reply with mine).

Oh, and I need a jersey!! Tell me where to send the PayPal.

Looking forward to working with you!

Best,

M

I wear mine every time I'm out there still. This year though my local track switched from NBL to ABA, they were working on some changes to it and it's been closed almost all year so far. It finally just opened a couple weeks ago but now my work schedule has me working on every practice day and race day. Ugh! My schedule's about to change in August though so I'm hoping to make it out again soon.

Mike, you can e-mail me at scot@deservewhatyouwant.com

I signed on for the original open support team by simply buying a jersey back in 2002 or so, I have yet to actually wear it or race for that matter but I'd feel a whole lot better if my name was listed as a support rider, would it help if I slept in the jersey?

I believe this was the first run of team jerseys. JT sporting the Stone Cold look.

This was the 2nd run with Jason & myself at a local practice.

There was a limited run of was was called the "JB Rebel jersey". I have one & here it is. I still wear it every now & then. JT again.

Without even knowing something like this existed, I had the idea of a similar team (To function locally); made it all the way to the Homestead FL track to check if this was viable, but the only category for people like me was 35 and up cruiser sad.gif

I would like to join something like this as a racer or even as support rider (Maybe even offer some kind of sponsorship), but where do I go to race???, or how do this works???.... What about doing something like this for a Freestyle team???

Got to wear my jersey at last weeks Daytona series race .

You have your own web site. Start a race or freestyle team from that. It's not that hard just talk to a race team manager (theres more than one around here) I'm sure thay can get you started.

Still have my "Darkside edition" jersey!

I also have one of the first issued VBMX "Factory team" jerseys as well. but alas the only pic of me wearing it is with my chest protector on over it. rolleyes.gif
