So….. last night I raced for the first time in 21 years.
What a rush. It was like the old days, except now I suck.
Actually, I learned a few things:
1. My gearing was way too low for the track
2. Don’t wear a long sleeve black t-shirt if it is 90 degrees and humid.
3. Eat some dinner before the race
4. Stop being a puss and lay off the brake
5. If there is no way that you will make the transfer in the first moto, save your energy for the second moto.(what do I know, I always raced NBL back in the day, we raced all three motos)
6. Jeans get hot and heavy when you sweat
7. Sweat leaking in your eye burns
8. Racing is still the bomb!
Did I do OK? Sure, I didn’t crash, I transferred and I came home with an ABA membership, a free t-shirt and a 4th place ribbon.
Oh yeah, I also have some stories to tell my brothers that have been out of it for 20+ years as well.
See you next Tuesday night….
