I was just thinking since 1987 is the year that allot of us consider the pinicle of freestyle and bikes, and since the year is over half over, most of our 87's are now old enough to drink so lets have a look at all the 87 freestyle bikes we have between us.

I only own the white and blue Pro Compes now.

Wow, I just realized I don't have any 87's. I am hoping to do an 87 Sport again though. My favorite year for a lot of bikes. I do still have these. (not the bikes, just these pix and stuff, except the last frame, I do have that.)

A picture of my first 87 Sport.

and I still have the receipt from it. I sold my Trick Star to get this one.

It got stolen a short while after I got it, but we got insurance money for it and I was able to get this.

This one cracked and I got it replaced. I do have this 88 frame still that is cracked by the seat tube. I'm thinking of getting this one fixed and maybe re-doing it as my Team SPort again, but I might just get it fixed and keep it as is and make it my rider again. We'll see.

There were only 3 bikes I bought complete. My Trick Star that I pieced together and ordered in 85, then these 2 Sports.

Ignore the decals, the serial# says it's '87.

I saw a couple freestyle shows at Burbank Schwinn back in the day. I think they had GT in 87. My cousin won a Predator Free Form at a Schwinn show there in 88, I think.

Cool! I'm sure we were at some of the same ones. I saw a couple Haro shows there, GT show, very cool times!!! I lived just about 10-15 minutes away from there down 79th St.

I consider '88 the line in the sand. So mine still has a few months to go.
Thankfully. Old enough to sign up, but not to tip a mug yet....

And Pete, that Kuwi is frightening!

Yeah, I'm not too familiar with the area other than the shows I saw there. I grew up in Gary, IN, and it wasn't too far of a drive for us to go see some of the shows they had.

I'm looking at the location now on Google Maps -- they have a street view of it, and I remember the parking lot off 79th and LaCrosse Ave, now. That's where we saw a combined GT/Haro show (both teams!) in the fall of 1988. I think that might also be the shop where I bought my Woody Itson Strike Zone. My Trick Star was stolen at a contest in Batavia, IL, later on in the fall of 88, and I remembered the Strike Zone from one of the Illinois shops where I was watching a show, so I went there and bought the Strike Zone with insurance money. I'm pretty sure it was Burbank, although a shop in Harvey, IL, comes to mind, too. I'll have to check the sticker on my seat tube. That had the shop's name on it.

Anyway, small world!

I'd never been to the shop in Beverly, but the Burbank shop was pretty good. Better than most shops our way in Northwest Indiana. We had decent shops, but it seems like that special part or bike we wanted were always sold over the border. No one our way had that Strike Zone, for example, so we made a little trip.
