Hey guys, thought I'd introduce myself. I've been reading this board for several months now and finally decided to sign up and post! I just finished my first build about a month ago as well, so I thought I'd show it off. I love reading and talking about vintage freestyle, everything... from bikes to riders, magazines, tricks, parts, toys, whatever. I rode flatland heavily in the mid-late '80s and even had a couple of co-sponsorships from bike shops. Did a lot of totally '80s shows back then... at malls, Pizza Huts, parades, etc., LOL. Gotta love that decade. I still have my '87 Pro Performer from then, I'll also show a couple pics of that in this post.

Anyways, yeah man, it's been really fun re-discovering all of this again. I can't believe how fast the past 20 years have gone by, but here I am, same interests and hobbies all over again, LOL.

Well, here is my first build, custom color '87 Dyno D-Tour.

Everything was NOS, except for the wheels which took me about 2 months to clean, through scrubbing and light sanding. I'd sit outside after work for an hour or so a night, just fine sandin', LOL. For some reason, I'm afraid of bleaching them- it seems like the bleach would cause like a breakdown of the plastic. The frame was blasted/powdered, and new fun colored repop decals. I love this Dyno! It looks like candy!

Here's my '87 Pro Performer, which I've had since NEW (bought it at Rockville BMX!)

Well, It's great to officially be "here" now, sooo "Hello, everyone!" BTW- My name is Mike, and I live in Eastern, coastal NC- Grew up in the Pittsburgh, PA area, now a beach bum LOL.

Hope to get to know everyone!

Welcome Mike, I'm sorta new too.

Your Dyno looks cool! Pink and blue is a nice combo and nice work on the tuffs

Custom colouring old school rides is great. As much as I appreciate bikes built to original catalogue specs, adding that color that they never came in is what puts your mark on it!

Keep em coming.

Thanks for the welcomes, guys!

Paul, you're right. I LOOOOVE and APPRECIATE (understatement) the time/money/effort that goes into original/catalogue specs, but since that's a bit out of my reach right now, I love just building what I can. I loved searching out parts for my Dyno, and keeping it all within the era, but theres some things I couldn't see myself doing.. like spending a hundred bucks for white GT NOS tires, when I could pick up all white, really cool Kendas for 20, as an example.

I'm hoping to start a new build this fall, to do over the winter, soo I'll have to see what I can find that is affordable and you know... rules.

Thanks again for all the welcomes, you guys have really made me feel "at home," since soo many people don't understand or appreciate this hobby/obsession.
