Picked these up on a GT race bike this today. Just wondering how rare they are and if they were sold bitd as rim only or did they come as a complete wheel. Were they more widelyy used by racers or Freestylers?

Thanks for any info.

I'd guess freestylers used them more, since Buff was a freestyler, but at least one racer used them. I see it has pegs too so the guy must have used his race bike for a freestyler. Cool! The first time I saw those was when my friend Kyle got a Haro bitd. He had some on there, probably 84-85? That was the first time I saw a Haro too. What I remember about his bike is that it was a white Master, white Mike Buff Z-Rims, a blue Haro top tube pad which I thought was cool because it fit the twin top tubes, and chrome Galindo bars with a black crossbar. Cool find! How's the back one look?

The back one is in pretty good shape too. The writing is full of brake dust. Should clean up easy. I'll get some pics in the morning.
wish id kept my TA
The Mike Buff Zs are a bit rarer than the standard ones & I think the Mike Buff ones are off White, while the standard ones are a more bright White. I have a set of the standard ones which were very faded & dirty when I got them, but after a bit of scrubbing, some bleach & some new decals they look like new now.

There cool rims

Was it just me, or were Z-Rims like.. too squishy and flexy for freestyle? I remember hating them back in the day and being sad that I bought them because they flexed too much, and I was out 50 bucks. This being the regular, 36 spoke, not the 48's.
