In Rhode Island we had I would say probably the most significant BMX movement on the East Coast besides New Jersey and Florida.
With the creation of The Original Team OSR from Dale Fraza and Harry Van Leuven's Ocean State BMX Shop to the start of the NEBA (New England Bicycle Association) in 1979 that blossomed from the one track in RI the infamous Rocky Hill BMX to tracks
all thru-out the North East.
Some of the other strong shop teams from RI were... (Racing out of the Warwick PAL Button Woods Track up to 1978)
Casters Schwinn
DJ Handlebars
East Providence Schwinn
I'm sure I missed a shop or two... But those shops stick out in my mind.
Plus we had a lot of teams from Massachusetts that would come to RI to race... teams from the Cape Code area...
