Rl's bike has got 85 hazzard yellow decals on it, but the Redline decal on his uniform looks like the fork decal from an 86 bike.

Didnt DC sponsor his in 86?
crowe-t
The picture of Todd Anderson's RL20 has the rims with the black stickered hubs. They look like Super Pro's to me. I'll look through my old mahazines and find the other pictures.

Does anyone know when the single walled chrome Peregrines, that I posted the pictures of, came out?

Double Chevron, That picture of RL and the one of Dennis McCoy is from 86. Dennis is one an 86 Master. RL's bike is an 86 with 85 Hazard Yellow decals. RL always had something different.

Here is another picture of RL on his chrome 86 RL20II

I'd go for some maximum bling on a such a beauty, chrome rims all the way Manlio!

About the date, correct me if I'm wrong but this pic looks very 86ish... any expert on RL's hairdo to confirm the time it was shoot ? smile.gif

WHAT BOOK IS THAT? Great shot!
Double Chevron
it's from a book by a french guy, released around two years ago here in France, not sure if available in the US.
A few BMX shots inside, but mostly lowriders, MTB, beach cruisers and weirdos bikes..

Mike, you've got an email wink.gif

Actually, I'm fairly certain that pic is in the new "Freestylin' Generation F" book made by Nike SB.
I'll have to double check tonight.

donvader
That is an AWESOME picture of McCoy and RL!!!

You have one of those Freestylin' books Bill?? Cool!!!! I want one so bad!!!

Here's a little update on my RL 20 II. Got a couple more things on it, and I'm thinking I may dye a white Dominator the blue that I want.

I want to go with a gold chainwheel but this one I got for it is too small. It fits on the backside of the powerdisc, but I need one that has it where the holes on it are just for the outer holes on the disc, so it fits on the frontside. That little ridge going through the center of those inner holes on the disc are preventing me from using this one. Oh well, this is the plan anyway so far.

Turns out I was wrong.
It IS a sweet pic though!

That is coming out really well, Don - nice one.

What are you thoughts on wheels?
donvader
Thanks! I'm thinking blue Peregrine mags like Crow-T posted earlier here, with some yellow Comp ST tires. I'm still thinking I can come up with something pretty cool with rims/hubs/spokes too, but the more I picture it the more I want the mags. It might take me a while to find either one, and the tires too, but I'm leaning towards the mags at the moment.
BOB-O
don, if you turn the power disc around it should fit. unless you need the logo to show..
subwax
I might have a spare set of blue Peregrines - pm me.

Yeah, I kind of want the logo to show. I just realized I have a gold one on my Race Inc that might work. I'll have to check that later, off to bed for now.

Neil, I'll send that PM in a minute.
Pauly
Coming together nicely Don!
Where'd you get that blue/silver chain? It looks like a new production chain?
donvader
Thanks Pauly! As far as the chain, I picked it up on ebay a while ago. All it has is YBN stamped in it every few links in the blue, and I've never heard of them before either. The box has a little wear to it, but no dates. I picked it up for another build but the blue was a little too dark for it. It didn't look as dark in the auction photos, I'm sure we all know how that goes. I just had it around, and what do you know, the darker blue that was no use to me when I got it will be perfect for this bike. It's still sealed in that bag too, in real nice shape. It should look pretty good on there when I get the gold chainwheel on it and a back wheel.
Nighthawk
There's a guy on BMXMuseum with a set of blue Peregrines for sale, asking $70.

Thanks for showing me those, but I don't think they were Peregrines. I think they were OGK and had the reflector tabs on it. Still cool looking but I want to get the actual Peregrine ones for this if I don't go with rims. I'll go check again.

That black plate is really cool looking! A black seat would look perfect on there.

Sorry, no forks here. I remember it took me a little while to find some too, but I found a set. What color is yours?
bwl007
Donvader - thanks for the props. I may have to go with a black seat if I can find a suitable one.
RXREKTD
Can't believe it, just this week, I was drooling over all these RL20II's and hoping/wishing for one to come along. Then bam, a frame was available for purchase on here. Took the plunge on it. Now the hard part, finding the forks, stem, and bars to match. I posted on the wanted section for these parts. And bam, I get an PM from someone selling. Just paypal'd for them. Whoo! What a great week! Now, all I gotta do is wait for the parts to arrive!!! Wait, I think that's the hardest part. sad.gif

RXREKTD, What color and year is your RL20II? cool.gif
RXREKTD
It's an 86 and it's chrome now. Don't know what color it started as.

As you guys know, I finally got my RL22. Just wanted to ask your opinions on how I should build it up. I know most of you would build it up to the way it came back in the day. Parts, color scheme, etc... Should I go this route or do my own thang. Different color scheme on the frame, bars, and stem, but keeping the chrome where it needs to be, forks and rear of frame. The parts would be closer to how it came back in the day, just different colors. For example, black frame w/ green peregrines. I'm kinda torn b/w the two. What are your thoughts?
donvader
I like custom stuff. I'm doing mine sort of custom (see earlier in this thread). At least custom for an RL 20-II. All it took was 4 small squares of blue sticker vinyl to cover up the lavender, and everything else is a stock color part, just put together pretty uniquely for an RL 20-II. I think a black/chrome frame with green Peregrines, and green cables would look pretty awesome. Do everything else in black and chrome, that would be sweet!!!
Pauly
Personally I'd stick with a stock paint color and decals but build it up with different (era correct) components. Mix it up with an ACS stem/Pro Rotor, GT superlace wheels, profile cranks etc. That's how we used to build them right? Build from the ground up starting with just a frame. Can you tell I'm getting bored with the stock factory builds?
RXREKTD
Yeah, i hear you guys. I mean, how many of us actually left the bike alone after we brought it home? I don't think none of us did. We all changed things to upgrade a part. So, Pauly, I'm right there with ya. My only thing is that if you look at all the RL22s, they are basically the same. And that's why your bike is so unique Don, just by placing the blue stickers on it. Sets it apart. I kinda want to do the same thing with mine. Don't get me wrong, I love the old colors, but want to kind of update the bike with a new color. As far as parts go, I'm def. going with old school parts. So it's kinda like mixing the old school with the new.
