I know absoluteky nothing about them, but I did see a set on someone's ride at Rockford - they looked really cool. Anyone got any info on them? Any for sale?
Evan
I hosted some photos of a set some time back for another member, and this was included. From the horse's mouth, so to speak:

Here is a photo of Kevin Stevens, One of the Factory riders and a good friend. And this dude was fast.....

Threse have got to be rare, right? I have only seen a handful of pics, and only 1 set in person. The concept sounds as if it is at very least plausible - did anyone try it? Impressions?

I have a rear hub. Not the cranks... I put profiles on a bike with a dual chainrings and it rode around. Pretty sweet idea.

I knew a bunch of guys up at marion that ran with them. the parker brothers and a few others. i rode a bike with them on, and i couldn't really feel a difference. but didn't time them or anything like that.

evan these might of come from that lot then

The Clem twins and their Dad(he didn't race) used to race at Buds BMX from time to time. Great folks. Unfortunatly Kevin Stevens the young Twin Crank rider from Marion,IN met an untimly death in a motorcycle accident. There was a couple of twin crank threads a couple years ago here, anyone interested might try a search. Wildman

Hi, I found your site doing research on the Clem Twin cranks. This is a cool invention and I am suprised that you don't see more of these since it is a cool ride. I'm building a fixed gear road bike similar to the one I built at his shop in the 80's. I worked for Vic Clem and we were Texas Bicycle then. The cranks were custom made and used a left and a right side crank arm and used a left and right pedal. I rode one of his BMX bikes on a test run ( I raced road ) and found that there wasn't any flex in the frame. By having a chain on both sides, it negated any flexing. It was a truly unique ride. It is interesting that he used twin cranks and had twin daughters that dominated BMX racing in their youth. I have more info if anyone is interested. email me at 964x4@live.com. Thanks.

"Even torque means double power"! - Wow, double power ... how do you control all that speed?

I got a good chuckle out of them the first time I saw them at an NBL Nat, They sure look cool, but the logic behind them is flawed to say the least. But, if you're selling cranks - why not sell twice as many, right ...

Didn't I hear a rumor a few months back that Greg Hill was involved in developing a new-era re-release of these?

Anyone?

I had a pair of these back in the day. All I remember about them was they where a pain in the @ss. Ended up trading them for something.

They did look cool. Had them on a Robinson. Wish I had a photo.

I really can't judge whether the cranks really work or not...I've never used them. The do look cool though! What I really love is that someone can post a question and so many knowledgable can comment to provide the information.

A few of them just ended on the bay...very cool cranks!

I had to pick them up.

What I like about the concept is the idea that there would be another chain there in case mine were to break!

Has anyone thought about this? :
Chains stretch right? If one of the chains is even a fraction longer than the other chain, the shortest chain will be doing the work. The other chain will just be going along for the ride.

I think Mr. Clemtwin recently passed away?

My brother still has the original Clem Twin GT its in perfect shape. I myself had the original MCS Magnum that was the other sisters but I had it stolen from me years ago! It is awesome to see people remember these cranks I use to race at Rockhill for years when I was a kid man I miss those days!

these were at the recent Ohio show:

I tried to find some info on them a while ago as there were quite a few of them back when I raced in Ft wayne in the 80's. The Clem twins I do believe went to a local parochial school here and were very popular with the young fellas at Rockhill park. I just looked from afar because I was about 12 or 13 and way out of my league.

I remember the Clemtwins also...............you weren't to only one to be looking good3.gif
If my memory serves me right, there were plenty of above average girl riders from Ft Wayne area........

Cool pic of the actual cranks on that bike, haven't seen them in a while. Kinda like seeing a Browning 2-speed...hard to find.
