mr coasterbrake
i laid claim to inventing "retro" (insert sarcasm here wink.gif ), and now i will lay claim to inventing newschool with oldschool looks... tongue.gif

Very nice Mr. C. Very nice indeed!

I see quite a few bikes like that running around here anymore. Makes me smile every time.

-That's Kip Williamson's bike he built and is selling in his ebay store. Kip is building some sick stuff with old school flavor for the new kids..

Kip is in Joe Kidd, if you didn't know.

Yep, '80s colors are back in vogue for the moment, which is cool IMO. Sure beats all black, and the tan and brown and olive drab bikes. An old SE looks good in tan, that's it. Of course this comes from a guy that rides a bike in a color called "Pebble", LOL.

But no real new school rider would run tuffs. They'd never make it.

nun the less...they both look SWEET...Mr.C...Fine looking Ride!!!

This is my Daughter Eastern Jane...hope the pic shows up

She rides Brakeless it has an older powerlight 1"1/8 stem and a set of 1st gen S&m slams as well as S&M Pitch forks. Profile cranks and gearing.

I saw in a BMX Plus the other day in a Haro ad that one of their new bikes was in the mint color again. Not the 2-tone just like the old Masters or the retro bikes, looked like just the lighter color. It was an ad of 3 bikes, all pretty cool looking I thought.

AMEN to that!!! All those brown and raw color bikes look like they were pulled out of a dumpster, especially after they've been ridden for a while and you get scratches and a ratty seat with all the stuffing coming out. I just don't understand it. I also don't understand the no decal plain thing. It makes the bikes look pretty boring.

The 2 main things I don't "get" about these new school rides is:

1) 30:16 gearing. WTF?
2) No brakes. WTF?

agreed on those points.

Also the bike from the thread starter looks totally weird to me.
Sure, newschool could use some color other than black or tan, but that's
just a gory looking bike to me. It also may be, that aside from the colors, it
looks exactly like every other n/s bike out there.

Don't get me wrong, the sick stuff these guys are doing nowdays just
totally amazes me. The gaps, the groundwork, the street. It's pure shred.

But for me I prefer vintage with some of the better n/s upgrades, rather
than n/s with funky colors. And those colors are funky.
