so i've been collecting cook bros items for almost 3 years,,,,unfortunately, in La., not too many people ever owned a cook bros, so most of my collection is purchased via ebay or other out of state collectors......................however, a buddy of mine locally sold this bike to an individual, 25 years ago, and the guy still had it, tucked away in a shed...my buddy brought it over today and i bought it,,,,it has the original wheels on it from when my buddy got it in 1979-1980, can anyone give me some info on those bullseye hubs?...it has a nice non stamped tuf neck, too....after an oxalic acid bath, i think this frame will be nice, will post pics in tech n resto when i dunk it ..claude wink.gif

Cool score. I love the blue and chrome. Great that it's got some history locally too.

Hey Claude, I've never seen a chrome headtube sticker before, have you? What's the serial number on that beauty?
masterstint

84, sharp eye you got there, thats one of the first things i noticed too! chrome square head badge, first i recall ever seeing,,,,it has a cook bros bb too, # is 471,,claude

Very sweet! I doesn't look like it needs very much cleaning up. That's gonna be so nice! The blue parts are just right.

I wouldn't call that a semi score...I'd say that's a full on, outta the park score. Those bullseyes look great for being in a shed for 25 years...especially being that you guys have the same 1000% humidity that we have here. The whole bike looks great for that matter.
Some new spokes and those wheels are perfect. Tange forks?

well Pete, i said semi score cause my buddy trusted in me not to screw$$ over his friend that owned it,,im sure he wouldve taken $50, but i offered him $400, which he accepted,,,,your right, the bullseyes are perfect and that 1000% humidity really sucks(dont visit New Orleans may through August!),,,,,,I was guessing Tange forks too,,,,great talking to you at rockford, did you post pics of your ashtabula(?), sweet bike!
bmxerpete
Claude,
$50.00 for that bike would have been the Score of the Year...you're a good man for not doing that to him.
I used to race the Cajun Nationals every year in Baton Rouge, and I would get a kick out of seeing dudes from other parts of the country just melt in the humidity there.
And no, I haven't posted pics yet. I'm a slacker...

thanks Pete,,,,,,,as for the humidity, after Katrina, there were red cross volunteers here forever,,,,they stopped by my shop to talk and see how things were going.....one of the girls was fanning herself with a booklet really hard,,,,she ask me, "have you lived here all your life?" to which i responded "yes".....she said "my God!, can it get any hotter?!!"...i turned and looked at the shop thermometer and IT WAS 78 DEGREES!!!! i asked her "where are you from??", she says "Minnesota",,,i told her,"oh no sweety, your not gonna make it here!, you gotta add 25 degrees to this!!!" rolleyes.gif

Hey Claude, does it have a flat or round break bridge? If it's round, it's far too old for you and you will have to send it to me. It's a rule, you know? wink.gif

Looks like it found a good home.

Dennis!!,,, whew!!!! i just lucked out, its a flat brake bridge!!!,,,i know the rules about upping my score to you senior members biggrin.gif , i wouldve next day aired it to you had it been the round bridge model wink.gif ....you newbies better pay attention, or else the hazing could be brutal, these paw paws dont play! laugh.gif

Yea, I'm a big shot around here. Just ask me, I'll tell ya. wink.gif

That's why I'm into sidehacks, I use it to carry my ego. ohmy.gif

Semi score, that's like scoring with a Super Model. My big score of the year is a Scrambler 36-36 that needs a paint job.
