Thanks Guys!
The frame isn't very long, but the low top tubes may create that impression.

Some thanks are in order here!
Chris P - thanks for those orange arayas - I never expected to find them!
Michael - thanks for the seat - you are right -the chrome rails make a big difference.
Rod - you really came through with the frame. It's an honor having one of your repairs in my collection.
Ken - let's hope the rear tire isn't haunted! Oh, and thanks for the lone nipple *wink, wink*
Ben - thanks for helping me get those wheels put together. You know your stuff! I no longer fear drills.
Al - those stickers really pull the thing together. I really appreciate the turn-around time.
Dan (I hope I got that right) - thanks big time for the stem pad
And, thanks to everyone else who did not bid on the frame when it popped up on ebay. I was prepared to bid high, but y'all backed off. I'm indebted.

Well....it's kind of bittersweet. Sort of like finishing a great book. It's done, you know the ending and there is no more building to be done. I'm going to miss following the story.
But....totally fantastic and unique build! Great story and wonderful ending....you have the bike (

)!

Actually, Monster, I may be done building completely new bikes, but I will be re-building my GJS. Those rims you sol me are the start. I will be looking for all sorts of late 1970s components to put on it.
And, a late 70s JMC just might tempt me to maybe begin anoth...

Are you still wanting a set of those yellow grips? I may just have an NOS set of what you want.
Glad I could help with the decals.
let me know and I'll send them out-it'll be my donation to the bike build.

OK, here it is. The only thing missing is the black frame pad. It came out great. The photos are so-so. I'm no Muxter, but hey.

I was wondering if they are related. There are definite similarities. Anyone out there know the answer to this?
cheez
Jul 25 2008, 11:20 AM
No they aren't, R&R's didn't crack if you looked at them cross-eyed. and they were made in California, Cheetah's were made in Phoenix AZ
That is one sweet build, I'm amazed you found one.

I was not aware of Cheetahs cracking. I was pretty brutal with mine when I was a lad, and never had any problems.
Thanks for clarifying that R&Rs and Cheetahs are not related. Perhaps there was some cross-inspiration?

Man I cracked 2 in 6 months and traded the 3rd one before I cracked it. They were good about warantee claims. I think they just got caught up in the twin top tube fad like Torker. I'm pretty shure R&R was the first twin top tube frame.

Great story, and terrific build.
I remember the story over the years as the hunt was on, That's so cool that you've recreated your old bike.
Love the orange too... my sons favorite color, (he complimented the cheetah over my shoulder....)
