I'm rebuilding my type A moto bike and I have two questions. First how exactly do the cranks come apart? Second, how do you rebuild the forks? If someone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. He Sodbuster, you out there????? Thanks, Woody.

Here's some old instructions I have on a printout. This is for cottered cranks, which I'm assuming you have.
************
Make up a piece of two-by-four about 40 inches high, notched at one end and held at that end in a vice. Loosen the cotter-pin nut three turns. Put the bottom of the crank in the v-cutout in the two-by-four, which is held in the vise with the other end on the floor, and with a mallet, hit the cotter-pin nut squarely. As the pin becomes loosened, turn pin nut two or three more turns and continue until pin is loose enough to tap out without damaging threads. Take pins out on both cranks and remove cranks from axle.
************
I just took an old board that already had a hole drilled in it and held the frame with my hands. But I've never been good at following others instructions....
Oh...the pins are conical so they only can go in one way. And, I wasted a little time with a plastic mallet...go right for the ball peen hammer.

Yep I agree on the ball-peen. the hammer rap to the pin has to be sharp! otherwise good tips so far. I'll look at my copy of the Moto-bike workshop manual and make some scans to send you.

I've recently seen new fork seals on ebay through a store seller there.
Couldn't tell you how to rebuild/restore the forks, but new seals couldn't hurt.
Good luck!

Awesome, thanks for the heads up on the cranks. It looked like you had to hammer that pin out, but I was afraid to without asking.
Now as for the forks, do you have to put in new seals after you break them down? Second, how do you break them down? I've drained the oil from the forks. I remember at El Dorado Sodbuster told me one side uses less oil than the other ( I think he said the side with only the spring used less oil). Anyhow, any info on the break down of the fork tubes would be awesome. Man this board is a great place for info. FYI, any scans can be emailed directly to me at FSWoody@charter.net. Thanks again, Woody.
Hey X, after the kids go to bed-LOL. It only took me 10 mintues to break it down. However, I still have to do the forks and remove the cranks now....After I get mine done, we can talk....See you Saturday night.

Hey Brian, that was exactly what I needed. I'm really looking forward to this project. I've wanted to do this for quite some time. Thanks again, Woody.

I've bought decals, chain adjusters, grips and fork rebuild parts from "motobiker" on ebay. Solid dude. Got an A model in the works right now.

Yeah, I got a set of repro decals from him. I keep watching his auctions, but I don't really need much. Mostly just effort-LOL. I do need a single seat, but I hear that is a tall order......
