Well thank you, but I will have to remove myself from consideration. After re-reading what I thought wss a safe bet of a thread, WILLINOIS did indeed have a sarcastic comment on page 3. So, according to the original rules..... no sarcastic jokes by members... I am disqualified.

I think I have some self depreciating comments in there Ditch, so I'm pretty sure that disqualifies the thread. Thanks for the props though man.

Just trying to make a point here guys, and I find really entertaining the fact that we can discuss many topics in the forums, it is just a killer to see people barging in there with personal issues, or sarcastic jokes when they have nothing else to say...

(As an example of one of too many crash and burn outs) I remember a few months back when I posted a picture of my GHP Trix with a killer babe next to it... In a perfect world you would expect to have some jaws dropping, or nice girl remarks, but noooooo, the ONLY comment I've got was "Loose chain" ...

In the other hand, no one is expecting to be praised either, but come on, what happened with the "If you have nothing good to say, dont say anithing"... Are this comments made out of envy?, Self pitty? Or What???... I cant remember how many times I've read posts where some one new comes in here with a note and he gets catapulted out because of his newbie comment...

Isn't this a place that most of us seek as a refference???, Help and/or self improvement???... I'm not calling for a group hug or anything like that, but hey, no need to rain some one else's parade!!!!

I'll let you decide, "All things Hawaiian" we have taken some jabs at each other in a brotherly love kind of way and all in fun. To me thats not negative. It also has inspired many of us to dust off the bikes and go ride, some of us for the first time since the early 80's.

There are other sites that are really venomous - I think VBMX is a cool place to hang out.

Not at all - maybe there is a cultural difference too. I feel much more relaxed posting now that I did prior to Rockford. Maybe the guys that have been to Rockford together for a while now are comfortable with each other so much so that they can take the mikey out of each other. Its a standard thing in the pub in the UK, and if you're not being ribbed, you're not part of the "gang".

There are lines that are sometimes crossed, and this is where I get what you mean. Problem as far as I can see is that it is so easy to sit behind a keyboard going "you're a this-and-that", etc, etc, etc. Its a different thing when people are face to face. Say for instance, if I made that remark about the Trix to your face, you would have easily been able to tell that I was joking, or pulling your leg, but if it was a post on here about it, its much harder to interpret, and much easier to be offended.

seriously though, as others have said, true nastiness is the exception rather than the rule. maybe the threads you read by their nature, tend to have more controversy.

this place is family. doesn't family joke around? try reading areas of the board other than your normal haunts. really. if that's all you're seeing, you're missing out.

I told my wife I was having it professionally framed and will hang it in the living room above the fireplace. The frame was fine, the fireplace...not so good.

Juan, Have you checked out the Aussie thread? 15,309 replies so far. It's got a few pages running along nicely (for over 3 years now!) and we all get along, mostly.

And I don't think you are being a "cry-baby" at all. Not just on this site or in this community but everywhere on the internet people tend to take advantage of the lack of a face to face and they seem to have a little more balls than they would otherwise.

Many of the statements in question aren't simply joking jabs at your buddy but people blatantly being harsh and insulting towards one another.

I think a good point has been made here and it will hopefully at least be recognized here at vbmx.

Let's try to be more respectful of each other, and that doesn't mean don't crack jokes or bust someones balls...thats just good times. But we need to all be aware of how our posts may be taken by each other.
