A few months back, DC Shoe Company and SE Racing came out with a line of shoes to celebrate their 30 Year anniversary, I beleive the Shoes are called "PK Ripper" and are found in the DC web site under Specialty items; inside the box, the wrapping paper is a copy of the frame blue prints for the PK Ripper and it also has a list of the TOP 30 Bikes ever produced.... my question is: Do you guys think this list is accurate???, and by any chance, does anyone know who made this list???

Acually I thought yours was a Proline 1. That bike was so rad
Funny that list looks like the list of bikes Tim Cook once owned

No Redline Proline II, not a single GT in the list... no Pattersons, but a Hutch pit bike? hmmmm

no Wilcox Actionline BMX either?
btw: I
would build one of those for fun...IF one could be found. Probably rarer than the Hutch pit bike.

TIM is the obvious choice. I go with Andreas. He bought some of Jeff's stuff direct including a Bottema shirt that he wore in the magazine article his house was in and bought Jeff's home made monoshock. Andreas had the pleasure of going to Jeff's locker which I wish I had done. Many treasures...
Ben
BTW -
DG made one Monoshock that belonged to Kevin Harlow. It was in the mid 70's DG MX catalog before Chuck Robinson came on and started the hard tail BMX line with Bottema, Thomsen and Skibel.
DY has his Factory Pit bike. Enough money can buy it....

I have a feeling it's a list of bikes Juan bought from Jeff Haney who bought them from Tim Cook. Juan is just trying to be dramtic about it like Tim does. Remember Tim's last thread?

No drama here, I'm just trying to figure out who made this list and I can agree, there are many bikes missing here (Not a single Freestyle bike???)...
You want drama???, I'm only missing three bikes to have the whole list... How is that????

I wouldn't consider Freestyle part of a list of race bikes, make another list for freestyle.
So what ones are you missing, and what ones were from Tim via Jeff.
What do you do to have the coin for this kind of grailage, commondities trader of sorts?

AAAAAGGGGG!!!!, Forget it... This place is IMPOSSIBLE...
Sometimes it feels like a Little Hell's Kitchen.... Wonder why so many people wont even write in here any more.......
We are not talking who's bike is each, who owns them or how much they are worth... I made a legitimate question... Who made this list??? and Do you agree???
Maybe DC Shoes or SE Racing asked some one as knowledgeable as Tim Cook, I dont know, but in my opinion, and without taking anything from the bikes listed in that sheet, there are many other bikes from the 80's and other categories that could it made this list.... That is all...

Sorry, my fault. I thought the conversation had morphed into something different. Apologies
As far as the list goes, I think it's totally subjective. I guess I think a list of 'brands and models' would be a better list than a rider-specific bike.
Stingray
Mongoose
etc....
Those are all sweet bikes for sure, but no pit bike belongs in there. Just my opinion.

My comments were not addressed to you Tom, and the discussion on other brands is appropriate... I was referring to "other" narrow comments posted right on top of yours... and this gives me an idea of a new topic for this site... BRB

I think you are right with both of those, Juan. DC probably just thought it would be a cool-looking and inexpensive product liner. I doubt they were trying to credit actual historical significance with that list. If you ask 30 different people you are bound to get 30 different answers to that broad of a question. The only person who might "agree" with the list is the guy who made it, and even he might say "eh, I just threw that together quick for DC when they asked me for it".

I think it would be interesting to try to come up with consensus on, let's say, the top three complete bikes for each year from about 1975 to 1986. Bikes that generated a huge buzz at the track and in the neighborhood, or changed the rules of what people expected out of a racer. "Milestone" bikes.

John hit the nail right on the head. For different people, different bikes mean different things. Take me for example. Does any freestyle bike mean anything to me? Absolutely not. Looptail Redline? JU-6? Nope. Dont get me wrong, I respect other peoples desire and praise for them, but for me historically, they dont mean anything to me.
But mention, or show, a 1982 GT 24, or a Patterson PR240, or a Kuwahara KZ1, or a JMC black Shadow, or a JMC 24, and yeah, I likey likey. A Top 30 list is just that. A list. and eveyone's list is different.
Now, where did I put my factory mid eighties T/A 24 frameset...

I covered that event for BMX World Magazine.
(If you don't know me, I've been a BMX racer since 1978 for credential sake)
That event was NOT celebrating 30 years of OTHER companies bikes.
1st)
It was for the 30 years that the SE PK Ripper has existed.
It's the longest lasting frame named after someone in the history of BMX.
2nd)
It was an event to show SE Bikes 2008 special "limited" edition PK Ripper Bikes
with graphics by DC Shoes
3rd)
It was to promote the special "limited" edition DC Shoe with SE Power Wing graphics.
The shoe is a popular DC model called "Gatsby".
With the SE influenced graphic on the shoe, it's called "The PK" Gatsby.
The older bikes were owned by Tim Cook.
The newer (I believe early 80's era) bikes were owned by Greyboy
As the event ended, I saw one or two people I didn't know taking some of the bikes out.
Maybe they owned a couple of the bikes too..
They had a listing of all the bikes printed on a nice cardstock piece of paper.
I never bothered counting how many bikes were on the paper or at the event.
It NEVER crossed my mind that they were insinuating that those bikes were the best bikes over the last 30 years.
It was eye candy and nostalgia for the event.
I NEVER SAW MY FAVORITES a 76' White Lightning, 78' Delta, 79' TW, 80' Wheels N' Things WT Racer.
So hey, my favorites wern't there either. Oh well. No big. Never crossed my mind (till I saw this thread).
But, like I said, it was about SE, PK Ripper, and DC Shoes.
Did I just kill/ end this thread?
Mike Carruth, Can I please have a THREAD KILLER TSHIRT. Haha!

Yeah, those bikes were the same bikes that were at the launch party. That card was handed out @ the event. That's weird that it was in the shoe box. Was it in there when you bought them from a store? Or did somebody give them to you who was @ the launch party? I've received more than a few pairs of the DC/PK Ripper shoes. But that card was never in any of the shoe boxes.
I've got my fingers crossed that there will be another DC/SE shoe released with the 3rd bike we're doing with DC. We'll see...

Honestly, I don't know from where my shoes came from (They were in one of the boxes from some one's lot I acquired, but they came in size 11

Funny thing is before I read johnny johnson's post I was going to say that this list looks like a mesh of Tim's and Greyboy's collections. Bottema's home brew monoshock #2 on the list?? talk about shameless self promotion.
