Well, this Friday the thirteenth was a good one. Picked up a couple things I'd been wanting for a long time.

The first is a NOS orange coaster tuff. It's missing the coaster but that will turn up. The cool thing is that I bought an NOS front a while back so this completes a set. Funny part is that I hadn't been looking for a while and I was looking for something for someone else and fluked upon this one.

Way back before I'd thought it possible to put old school bikes together I happened on a NOS set on craigslist for $100 and had dibs but passed them up. Kicked myself for a few years since. Especially after Todd and the guys put together the orange Beat. Ended up buying a set of UK variant ones with the rear hub bolted in but always wanted the real deal. And that bad boy is on it's way to papa! Now I just need to get white Kashimax Aero.

The second thing might be even more rare - a set of Skyway TA stickers with "Skyway TA" on the downtube stickers without the Extra Long on there. I looked high and low for these and couldn't find any. The bummer is that I had other sets of TA stickers but the one that was like this had been cutout! Probably for the bike I was now restoring! So this set here just came up from a buddy in Perth Australia who I'd given the set to back in the day. He was asking what he should do with some other Skyway stickers he had and mentioned this set so I told him about the one I was looking for and there it is! Crazy how stuff turns up. I won't be sticking these now after all this but it's cool to have them.

cool stuff you found.
the orange tuff sounds cool... did you take pics of it?

hey, i have some nos comp st tires in orange if interested..

hey maurice..... i can send you the guts from the rear yellow coaster tuff i have...... you know, the one who's matching front you broke,... LMAO

cool deal on those decals too.... i was just looking at a set of those thinking it would be cool if "extra long" wasnt there

Bob, those would be the ticket for these wheels. Thanks for the offer. That'd get me going on another project though which I just don't have the juice for. I'd kill for a blue set for this PK I have on the slow burner.

Didn't get any pictures of the rear wheel yet since it's still in transit. I should probably wait to see it before getting psyched but I double-checked the conditinon with the guy and he was really confident on the NOS. I'll get some when

Brian, you're killing me! I didn't break no Tuff. Wudn't me. Wudn't me... Yeah those sticker are freakin' rare. Trippy too since the fork stickers are smaller which is something I noticed in old pictures but thought they'd used the handlebar stickers since we had special forks. The ones I have on the TA came from Biaggio at vert-ego.com.

What's that coaster like? I need one of the newer Suntour like this one. Might already have but haven't checked the parts box yet.

Did you get those wheels I sent? Can you use them?
Maurice Meyer
Well, the seller wasn't lying about the NOS - this wheel is sweet! And lookie here, the front that has been sitting all by itself on the shelf here now has a buddy.

Just a little white missing out of the serial number. Otherwise, no nicks at all and the color is great! Stoked.

So, this will be the third set of wheels put on this bike but they are now the right ones. The first were new orange freewheel, the second were real hard to find themselves and are NOS coaster but they are made in the UK. Picky, picky, picky... The deal with the UK wheels is when Tuff Wheel sales were going nuts in like 1985 or so, a mold was sent to the UK and wheels were made there stamped "Made in U.K." but the riveting machine wasn't so easy to ship so the metal flanged hubs on the UK wheels were bolted in.

Awesome stuff Maurice. You sound like me LOL. This bike building thing takes on a life of it's own. I have two frames at the painter right now and I'm jonesing to get them back so I can start to build them.....
