I'm restoring my old Tahoe. the stickers have been on there for about 25 years. I got new ones, the old ones aren't coming off very well. How do I get them off there, with out harming the chrome?

Hair dryer / heat gun.... Once the glue gets warm it starts to get soft.

What Rob said, and then use
WD-40 to clean up the residue.

I would use at least an 1800 watt hair dryer. Heat! We can't keep posting follow-ups. Try it and then questions us some more please. OR keep using your fingernail and other tools. IF YOU WANT QUICK AND EASY, follow what we said. If you know of a better way then please post it. IN FACT, you might be able to save the decals with the hairdryer.
You aren't looking for a shirt with this thread are you?

I've had success with WD-40 and a plastic spatchala, let the WD-40 sit for a little bit before scrapping.

I just did a chrome 86 sport last night and used a razor blade and Go-Gone to remove the dried, cracked decals and residue. No damage to the chrome.

For removing the residue left by the stickers I always use Eucalyptus Oil......It's amazing stuff but you wouldn't want to sniff in the fumes for too long, lol.

Yup I first came across the hairdryer tip when I removed a tiger sticker from the petrol tank of my first 125cc Yamaha about 20 years ago. More recently I restickered one of my frames and it worked as good these days as then. I used meths to remove the residue glue with no issues. Try to avoid sipping whilst working.

Good luck

Very nice job. I use the heat method because I have a heat gun (no hairdryer) and works well for me. I get scared using razor blades on chrome, but looks like it worked!

So you guys say you can reuse decals with the heat method? Do you have to use new or more adhesive when reapplying? Im not tryn to call anyone out or anything I really am curious.
