On August 9, 16, and 23 Manhattan there will be a car-free area beginning from the Brooklyn Br to Central Park at the E 72nd St. entrance. It will be on those 3 days from 7am to 1pm. It would be cool if BMX riders could show up and ride the seven mile stretch. I'm going to take my son on one of the three days.
We need to show those spandex wearing, pointy hat wearing roadbike guys/girls that they are not the only "cyclists" around. LOL Hope to see some of you there.

Yep, don’t fret. I was planning on a participating. I might even do it on my 1982 Floval Flyer.

I'll be at Brian P's. Just try to stop me from riding on the NYC streets, closed off or not.
I don't understand what one has to do with the other. Are we only allowed one BMX day a season?

I've not been invited to the BBQ probably because I don't know Brian P... makes sense. As for the ride, I will be there with my son riding an OM Flyer. Riding in NYC with the streets closed may not be a big deal to us "grown ups", but to my 6 yr old it is a big deal. Any father who would bring his 6 yr old to NYC to ride in the street when it was not closed off probably should have a meeting with Child Protective Services.
Hope to see some of you there.

first off the invitation to the Brian P party has nothing to do with who you are it is an open invitation, I am running the show partof his party and did not receive a personal invitation, secondly the NYC ride is in central Park with no traffic but a few joggers so no worries about the kids if he can make the six mile loop,
enjoy life and relax

The ride ends in Central Park. It begins at the Brooklyn Bridge so there is lots of street to ride through. As for the BBQ there is no way for me to know know it was an open invitation. It would be kind of rude for me to assume that it was and just show up.
By the way, my comments were not directed to you Oldpro.

sorry if I came off the wrong way I meant no harm Cook, as for the ride starting at the BK bridge I do not know where that came from because last year it started at Columbus Circle. I am the one who suggested that maybe if people are interested to ride BK Banks and then ride down to the park but no one seemed interested.
