Saw an '80-'81 Mongoose Frame & Fork with original crank, pedals & seat.

Decent original shape.

Asking price was $225.

Was this worth it?

I just want to know what to look out for.

It's amazing how many post 2000 Diamond Backs/Haros there are for $100.

In my day, that would've been heaven for me.

I have one I'll sell you for that price, shipped to your door. Seat & maybe post isn't original but the rest is. I'll even throw in some bars & a stem too...

Gold stem too?

I said "a" stem, not "the" stem! It just has a good chrome Ashtabula-type stem & chrome unknown bars on it right now. Nothing special, but they work & they look good.

He wasn't asking what it was worth. He was asking if it was worth it. there is a diffrence. I think it is if it's in good shape. But the main thing is how do you feel about your purchase? if your feeling good about it then don't worry about it just enjoy it and have fun!! biggrin.gif

P.S. It never hurts to haggle. wink.gif

If a bike is still sitting on Craigslist after the first day or so, it's probably not the bargain of the century. Check completed eBay auctions, and you'll see that early 'Geese don't really go for a ton of money. It's not surprising, because as cool as they are, Mongoose made a ton of them. I probably have half a dozen myself.
