Does anyone know how carbon forks are formed? I have a friend in the composites business that is intersetd in making carbon componets but not sure how to form the forks, seat tubes, bars etc.
Just curious

I have one word for your friend: liability

Making structural carbon parts, other than tubing, involves steel or aluminium molds (very expensive), pressure, vaccum and temperature, precice cuttings, epoxy resins, pre preg refridgeration, alot of know how, trial and error, testing and blood. The more engineering you have (finite analysis) the less blood.

I don't know much about it, I just know enough to know I don't know enough. It is a major undertaking and I would say the first thing he would need is a legal department.

I wish he and you the best of luck. Maybe he should try to score a job at Trek and do some industrial espionage to find more how they do it. It's very impressive what Trek has going on.
