Pee-Wee's Big Adventure

There are some old school bmx bikes in Dazed and Confused. Ducky can be seen riding an old goose in Pretty in Pink.

Who were the riders in Pee Wee's Big Adventure. I saw it a few weeks ago and the scene where he is reenacting the crime and they are sitting there in their JT uniforms with the helmet(s) sitting on the bench in front on them I couldn't tell if it was anyone notable. The colors were Murray colors, but I am not sure that they were Murray uniforms. Anyone?

I don't think "joe kid on a stingray" counts but what the heck...

But the absolute BEST BMX scene is when John Cusack is being stalked & hunted down by the newspaper boy who prowls after him yelling...

"2 Dollars!"

There are freestyle bikes, I think GT Pro Performers, in the Beastie Boys "No Sleep 'til Brooklyn" in the background.

The movie THE BAD NEWS BEARS from 1976 is littered with early old school bmx bikes. I could not name them but you see them at most of the bears practice seens in the move. Some are been ridden, some in bike racks and in the beginning of the movie there is one on the back of a car on a trunk bike rack. It looks like a want a beee motorcycle with fenders tank and number plate. That was one great movie.
Volcano
Hurricane Streets...A lot of Old School BMX's in that movie!!!
Jet Black
An ET Kuwahura gets run or backed over by an AMC Gremlin (I think) at the beginning of the Twilight Zone Movie episode that Steven Spielberg directed.

Not from the big screen , but worth a mention , Earl Hickey's stunt double makes a wobbly jump on a BMX in the season 2 "COPS" episode to escape the law , he also appears riding a BMX with a basket on the front full of garage remote control door openers a few times during the episode.

I can personally confirm that there were a LOT of BMX bikes in BMX bandits , Coasty , my brother Matt & I were all BMXtras smile.gif

After school special, "loser take all", Rupe was one of the leads..... rolleyes.gif It was filmed at Yarnell, pretty sure it was '77.

Anybody remember the movie 'Explorers' with River Phoenix and Ethan Hawke? It came out around late '85 and featured a couple of BMX bikes on the poster.

One is a Redline, but I'm not sure about the other.
ghostriderBMX
Nice J/R, where did you find the poster pic?
JohnnyRingo
Hey Ghostrider,

I've got a couple of big books on Industrial Light & Magic (George Lucas' special FX company). ILM did the FX for the movie and there's a section with all the posters from the movies they worked on. There's also some cool pictures of the model bikes used in ET.

Loser take all ? Is that the one where the kid built the bike with his dad? welded the frame up and then put some moto mags on it? Wow serious flashback on that one! you can do it duffy moon.
gptrash
I was watching that movie "Overboard" with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell the other day and there a goose with motomag on it sitting on the porch. I was flipping out. It was pretty cool.
cheez
Overboard, I think those were team gooses parked at the kids fort when Kurt Russell came to get them to go fetch Goldie Hawn.

I think we have the movie I'm gonna have to watch it again. and pause it at that part. I could swear I saw some candy red and blue gooses

There was a movie called Hot Moves-kinda of a Porky's type movie set in Venice Beach, where in the beginning it showed (I'm pretty sure it was RL) on a quarter pipe-it was way cool-about 84/85.
Monster-Robot
Over the Edge - I believe it was Matt Dillions first movie. Bunch of cool bikes at the end where they vandalize the school.

(Wow, am I the only one that thinks the AEIOU song is 100% totally gehy?)

GT_Pro_Performer
MAN I miss those keyboard "guitars!"

lol

What about Up the creek without a paddle ?
Those young kids jumping that ditch and the little dude doesn't make it.

Big Al, I remember seeing Uncommon Valor at the movies. It was cool to see a bmx track in the movie. I thought I saw a candy red kuwahara in the scene but then again that was way to many years ago.
crujonesfan
Over The Edge a was pretty good movie, nice call....... I want to get that movie and a Richie flag on my bike......... Another good call was Uncommon Valor, if I remember right, CW bikes, shirts, or something had a part in the movie...............
jjared
How many of you guys remember the bmx action in either Billy Jack or Walking Tall it was one of those,I am not sure but it was a seventies movie And it was a fast section in the movie maybe 40 -50 seconds but it was cool.
BIG AL
Bob,
I did see a candy red Kuwahara KE-1.But maybe I was mistaken.
That movie uncommon valor was on late night about 3 weeks ago.I jumped up and got real close to the tv just trying to get a good look at everything going on in the back ground.I know there was a guy wearing an SE jersey.
I am going to buy that movie just so I can pause it and see what is really there.
The movie is really a good 80's flick.Worth watching.
crujonesfan
The beginning of Maximam Overdrive had a baseball game and I think there were a few bikes and the main kid was riding his bike to the gas station........Another movie was Manequin with Andrew Macarthy and Kim Cattrell, he was riding back and forth doing some old school freestyle....Maybe Skyway, not sure............... Pooky goes down the stairs trying to get away from Ice T in New Jack City, again sorry I don"t know the bike............... Some what off the subject, my favorite bike in all the movies is the yellow RL-20 in RAD..................
