Hey Guys...bit of a story here,

I was talking to an old mate who bought my old MTB about 14 years ago.
Long story short, his Dad still had it in his shed...I asked if he wanted it anymore, he said no...he's got a new one.
I picked it up last night...needs some TLC but still in OK condition. All GT / Shimano parts, factory seat too!

I don't know much about the Vintage MTB scene, I collect BMX's form late 70s to early 80's.
So the question is...are these rare/collectable? What year could this be (maybe 1989)?...any info would be great!
I'll add more pics soon...anything I should take photo of for you guys to ID it?

Not bad to pick it back up after all this time...

Hey Mick, I nearly bought one of those off evilbay 2 weeks ago for 10 bucks. Not really desirable but a good bike. Theres probably about 20 million of them so they're cheap.

Hey mtbnj - I'm thinking of turning her into my daily rider.
I've got a set of GT pedals (DX copies) and going to put a Kashimax seat on it....well that's the plan.
The seat on it at the moment is the Original GT one out the factory!

I have a 1988 Karakoram that I bought new. It has the U brake under the chainstays and it has Deore SIS shifters with Biopace chainrings. Yours looks newer with the top mounted U brake, but I'm not sure of the year.

Are GT Karakorum K2's considered collector's item's or just run-of-the-mill MTB???
