Hello,
I found this cool site when I was wondering the net looking for any info on a Two Wheeler I picked up a few weeks back. In fact any info I have so far came from reading the topics here and looking at photos posted. I see Stroker as a name on some of the bikes. Stroker is not on my frame. The bike looks original to me. I wanted to post some photos for you to enjoy. Any info you might have would be great.
Thanks!
Richard

Well, aside from the tires that bike is straight out of 1975/76. You know what the frame is. What interests me are the forks, what does the round sticker say. The MotoXCycle sticker is an A&A headtube sticker. I don't remember A&A making forks but they don't really look like anything else. Bars I've seen before but can't ID them. If you paid anything less than $400-500 you made a great buy, wheels look like new and alone are probably worth most of that.

Update:
I looked at the round sticker again and it looks like it says Chromoly. Unless someone can tell me they're not I think you've got A&A forks that I never even knew existed. Bars could be A&A too, I can't remember what A&A box bars look like. Put some 183s(Cheng Shin tires) on it and keep it clean. Beyond that don't touch a thing.

Thanks for your reply Randy. The circle sticker on the forks says crome molly. The other long one on the other side you already know. Moto Cycle A&A MFG. Redwood City Calif. The Tires say Cheng Shin tires but I dont see any #183s on them. I have to take off the tires to see whats going on inside. I think the tube might be over sized or twisted. Both front and back tires have a boldge in them. Anyways I really thank you for the info.
Thanks again!
Richard

P.S. I paid $8.00 for the bike. :-)
Monster-Robot
Wow!!!! That is a major score! Congratulations! That is so very sweet and bristling with cool rare stuff!

The Cheng Shin C183 is a different style of tire. The ones on your bike are newer. You'll probably be out about $25 for new C183s and your bike is finished.

A&A forks....ouch!!!

Yes Randy the I found the bike in Livermore Calif. When I saw that the forks were from Redwood City Calif I figured this bike had been around this area from its birth.
Again I cant think you enough for the info. You guys are great.
Thanks!!

The color, the parts, the decals, the condition, the price...I cannot believe how amazing that bike is. Thanks for sharing.
DAN
Is it possible to get some more pictures of the fork?? I've never seen an A&A fork either but like Randy says it doesn't really resemble anything from the era. Really really cool find!

Dan I tried to make a new post of the fork photos and it will not let me upload anymore photos. I thought the 500k limit was for each post but I guess its total for all my posts. I can mail then to you if you want to see them. Thats all I can think of doing so you can see them.
Thanks!

I think I got this link right.

You've got yourself possibly the only pair of A&A chromoly forks known to exist. A&A did make those forks, that info came from the source who I just happened to need to call on an unrelated matter.

You need to bring it to Roseville in July.

Thanks for the info Randy. The bike meet looks like lots of fun and I love the Roseville area but I have a dizzy head problem that has kept me in livermore for the past year. I cant drive anywhere.
I wish the bike could just speak and tell me its story of where its been all these years.
Again Thanks!!!

Everyone has been very helpful. Dan you wanted more photos of the forks on my bike. Here is a link to more photos. Anyone else have Moto Cycle forks made by A&A MFG in Redwood City Calif. I was told they did make them. Have a look and let me know what you guys think.

Thanks
Richard

Thanks Walter for your reply. The story goes like this. I have a addition of spending any free time I have walking into thrift stores and searching for anything that does not belong there but belongs in my garage instead. Yes I have to much stuff and it gets me into trouble with the lady friend I live with. Anyways. One day a couple months ago when I was in one of my few fav thrift stores I walked out back were they have the bikes and all the other large things for sale that do not fit on the shelf inside. Just as I glanced over towards the bikes one stood out over the others. It was the motomag rims that drew me in. I became in a hurry and a bit nervice when I realized all I had on me was 10 spot and most of the bikes out there had 30 or 40 bucks written on them with a black felt tip pen. This one did not have a price on it. I was worried about the other people like me that are looking for cool stuff. I did not want to take my hands off it and lose it to someone else. I walked quickly right up front to the register. This time it was the old lady worker that has a dust mask over her face. I think the dust in the store gets to her. Most of the time when I buy stuff she has to check it all out and ask her questions about what I have and why I am buying it. I dont like when she does that becouse it draws attention to me and what I found. Anyways this time I acted like I was in a hurry and asked her how much for the bike. She was about to go off and ask someone else in the back offce how much the bike was but then she just said you are in here all the time how about 8 bucks. That was sweetness to my ears. So off I went. I took it home and stuck it in the garage with all my stuff. A few weeks went buy and I decided to wipe it done and started to look at it more closely. I did not know much about the bike so I started looking up the different names on the stickers online. I found a few photos and one of the photos brought me to this site. I read a few things about stoker bikes that looked like mine. Next I took some pics of it and thought I would post it and ask you guys what you think of it. You guys have been way cool about helping me with info.
Thats the story.
Thanks again for everything!

FWIW...

Seeing the "Colt Industries" decal on your Stroker made me recall that Colt once owned the Holley Carburetor company.

Nice score! I like the Ashtabula and Motomag decals too. Was this bike probably built by a dealer....since it has those stickers on it......as opposed to being factory assembled?

In the mid 70s most of the complete bikes sold were built by the dealer. Odds are just as good that this bike evolved over time from a Stingray, parts got added over time.

Where do I find C183s Cheng Shin tires. I shop ebay but I have not seen any this week. Do you know if they ever show up on ebay and how often?Or any other place I can buy a pair?
Thanks!

Your local bike shop should be able to order the Cheng Shin's for you. I think distributor Seattle Bike Supply sells them. Also, I've seen them for sale on Amazon.com

I looked on Amazon and saw a C183"A"...it's a motocycle tire. Make sure you get the 20x2.125 BMX tire. Here's a link:

Good deal on C183

Thanks Monster Robot. Those tires are going to look great and right on my bike.

Livermore was one of my stomping grounds in the mid 70's, me and Dave Gane used to go riding there all the time. I wonder what store built it? The only one I remember would have been the Schwinn shop on the main street, of course the bike could have been bought in Pleasanton(there was a tiny bike shop there that we used to hang out in for awhile then there was Smith's bike shop) or Dublin. Never heard of A&A forks. Dublin Schwinn used to carry A&A frames, it's where I bought my frame and eventually worked. Nice score for sure.

Great story Spike. Where was the track in livermore back in the 70's. I did not grow up here so I really have no idea. There are signs of a track out on HWY 84 near HWY 680. You can see the spectator stands and the tracks shape but its all tall grass growing over it. We have a couple BMX tracks on town now. Well one is over near pleasanton and one here in town.
I sure would like to know more about these A&A forks. When and how many were made?
