OK, I finally pulled the trigger on this purchase.

I was waiting to be sure I had the $$ for it and I also considered other options...particularly the GT I-drive series XC bikes. I just haven't met anyone riding a GT MTB who didn't like their bike. but the same went for the Fisher. Plus the Fisher is lighter, yet tuff enuff, it's not a fragile XC weight weenie bike, it's a legit trail bike yet light enuff to race if ya wanted to.

The parts package is nice and the wheels and tires come tubeless ready, my LBS (The Bike Shop, Warner Robins, Ga) is making the conversion for me.

GaryFisher also has the G2 Geometry that is designed to give you better slow speed handling without comprimising hi speed handling/stability

I got to ride a Demo model and really liked this bike. After dragging my Hardrock up and down hills for so long, I realize what I've been missing now.

Any Thoughts?

that is one NICE bike!!

looks like it has killer geometry. it's one of those bikes that handles just as good in the air as it does on the ground. GF frames for me always seem a little tall for me, but that one doesn't appear to be at all, almost has a specialized stumpjumper look, or santa cruz maybe.

great choice!

I just picked it up Friday Night! Sweet!!!!! I went BMX racing yesterday and today is Mother's day so, I haven't put it out on the trails yet. I am just breaking in the brakes wheneber I get the chance to ride a few minutes and drag the pads on the discs.

I believe I am going to take it back for brake adjustment. The brake handles pull in too much before they engage for my taste; especially the front handle.

Also, I am considering buying an additional seatpost to saw off and drop the seat for an upcoming grass roots slalom race next weekend. Not sure about that one yet. I may just use my old Hardrock for that. But the Handling on the Fisher is so unmatched by my Hardrock
