I'm thinking Motomag, but don't quote me.
There should be a motomag sticker on the downube
instead of the Mongoose decals.
Mongoose snowflake sprocket.
Maybe Ashtabula cranks.
NOT an Aero seat. Kash MX maybe.
KKT ratraps?

Heck, I should just leave this the gooseters....

Cool little score there!

Looks like a June 1981 Motomag. Lots of those parts look OE (besides bars/grips).

Yes, that looks like a Kashimax MX, not an Aero.

i'll probably get sht down in flames here, but i have 2 the same and did alot of net searching.
i'd say late 80/pre march 81Motomag. 1 as the first number to appear after the f is usually the last number of the year, 1981. the stickers with the black background and gold writing, red band/decals at back and the larger 'winners choice' sticker on downtube. i need these decals for my next build and should be available soon.
these were also on some after march 81 but the rear dropouts changed to kinked ones with holes.

for me pre march 81 Mongeese are the only ones im into.
good score, will clean up a treat.

cool, my serial # doesnt have the 3 letters in front of it and it is stamped around the tube and not longways. looked alittle wierd to me.if it was a motomag wouldnt it have the sticker on the down tube and the moongoose sticker on the top tube? somebody changed them?whats up with the tange stickers on the forks? they look like original forks but they are chrome not nickel. i have a lead on another one of these and 2 dgs and a fmf, all complete race bikes from bitd.hopefully that will work out for me
Kicks
there are ones that had the later Mongoose on the lower tube, thats what confused me. heaps of info here and that sticker setup.

Nice score Kicks. Also, you've got some serious answers there from Ken Pliska... A true Mongoose champ who knows his stuff.

If you need more info, I suggest one of your neighbors! If you didn't know already, you are just "around the corner" from Waza - The world's greatest Mongoose authority I know of after Skip Hess and Rick Twomey.

Check out his site: www.vintagemongoose.com and you should get all the info you need and more. Heck, he might even let you see his "Shed" one day! Make sure to check with him first though, the whole thing is under video surveilence!!! I'm not kidding...

Long live the Vintage Goose!!! wink.gif

is there any way to tell when the skyway wheels were made? there is serial #s on them too

COASTY
Sometimes the Skyway wheels have the date written on the inside of the rim in yellow (or white) writing.

Were the decals a "One year only" or one model only?

I have the same frame in nickle, no-pinch stay, and the same exact foil non-prism decals and I dont see any replacement decals available anywhere.

Is the Tange fork original equipment?

Cool find indeed!
