Here is mine. Trek 5500 Carbon with full Dura Ace. Bought it used for a great price. Now if I only could get out on it more often!

The Zipp's are nice. You might want to look at the new Mavic's with the carbon fiber spokes. They're pretty sweet too. I'll be going with DT Swiss on the new moutain bike that I'm currently building.

I run the Aksium's on the roadie & they're pretty good for handling the garbage road conditions. My concern with carbon is that I'm close to that "Clydesdale" weight & do not feel like taco-ing a 1500-2G set of wheels.

I'm building a two-niner SS for the day to day fun stuff. It's a franken bike, but awesome to ride in the trails. Some nice ritchey pro components, White ind. cranks & freewheel & surly wheels. Good times.

You might want to look for a 29 inch frame with a removeable derailluer hanger. That way you can a gears at a later time if you choose.

My new Titus Exogrid Racer-X frame arrived yesturday. I can't wait until it's built up. Hopefully this weekend.

I've been working on this for a few weeks, 2008 Kona Jake cyclocross. I bought a 2008 Motobecane Phantom Cross Pro back in March. As expected the frame set quality was extremely poor so I swapped the parts to the Kona frameset. I have 2 sets of wheels with different tires so all I have to do is swap wheels to ride unimproved trails, wheels have identical hub dimensions with the same size cassette. Hopefully I won't need to adjust the brakes or derailleurs when the wheels are swapped.

how bad was the frame quality? My buddy was thinking of buying the Motobecane.

i've seen a few of those Moto's at the shop for service. the low price of those complete bikes is 'cuz you're basically buying all the parts and getting a $40 cheap frame.

The lower headset bearing race contained a piece of weld slag that prevented the bearing from properly sitting in the headtube. This could have been easily rectified with a roto tool but it should have been done at the factory. The fork was about 5 pounds and utilized a STEEL steer tube that was extremely thick compared to an aluminum steerer. I got what I expect so I really wasn't surprised.

I think its safe to say that you should avoid anything with Motobecane decals. If you looking for a build kit they are a pretty good deal. Unfortunately I upgraded most of the Ritchey PRO stuff to WCS so the initial purchase was a bad move in the end.

Tha is a 1989 model. First year of the 3.0 series, and last year of the old "Train Depot" logo on the headtube.

a recent CL find. Paid 50 bucks for it..it was a bit short for me and put it on CL a week later and got 250 and all i did was dust off the cobwebs and grease the chain. All original down to the bar tape.

Built mine from scratch. It's been with me through 13 years, 3 RAGBRAI's and many centuries.

Portland is one of the few places in this great country that I haven't made it to yet that I really, really want to see.

Those are all sweet looking bikes... I too like to old school machines... early 80'5 Falcon Team bike . No pics yet need to get some though since I have had this since 1984. Post them up later

This thread's been dormant for a while...but I'll kick it in the tail and wake it up. This is a Reynolds tubed 1990'ish Bottecchia - made in Italy, and just about everything on it is Campy. I ride it 100+ miles a week.
