I've seen quite a few of the Matthews Monos, that appear to be survivors, with Ashtabula forks. I'm assuming that this was an option instead of the girder forks. Can anyone confirm this?

This red one is one of the nicest survivors I've seen.

What is the extra hole in the rear dropouts for? I'm thinking that putting a banana seat on a mono would be a bad idea...
