I know I've talked about doing these and have had some great feedback. We have approval from the owner of the Mongoose brand and we are going to move forward with the re-issue Mongoose grips. They WILL BE MADE FROM THE SAME MOLD as was used BITD. We will be making Black, Red, and Blue for starters. We'll get our samples early next week for color verification and after that it's off to the races.
Below is a picture of THE mold to verify they will be the a authentic re-issue grip.

How do you plan on distributing/selling those grips? I would definately wait to buy a couple pairs.

They will be available on a new website that will be launched within in the next few weeks. You will be able to purchase the "official" Mongoose and GT decals sets and some more new items as well. The decal sets are already available. The rest will be available very, very soon.

True! In fact Rockne Tang needs a pair for his goose too. So did you decide on what kind of compound you are going to use? The old harder version or newer/softer?

Are you going to advertise these to the mainstream BMX/freestyle market? I bet there are lots of new-school kids who would be stoked to run old-school Mongoose grips, as long as they're comfortable and affordable.

They need to sent the link to the site and sales figures, that could convince them that there is $ in repoping the old grips. If there is no $ in it they won't do it, business is bisinesss and there has to be sustainable profit in it. 20 bucks is a little pricey for just any grips, but a deal for a true accurate reproduction.

I've been trying. It's one of those companies that's difficult to get to the correct person. I've had better luck making contact with bmx companies in Japan than with these guys.

As my interest in the vintage side of this hobby has matured, I have found reproductions less desireable. However, I have always supported the soft-good side of vintage re-pops. Pads, grips, stickers and tires are things we need more of. Comp IIs with colored sidewalls are impossible to find, and I would never ride a set if I found one.
Good job on the grips - they look great and will make many goose owners happy.

Keep us updated, hope you go with the softer version. The hard vinyl ones are probably still not worn out from 25 years ago.

Hey for us fried Spam for breakfast is like Bacon for you guys. Goose's were popular because they were strong and had a good warranty. We broke a lot of frames BITD. Thruster was popular for the same reason. Most went for heavy duty over lightweight. True motocross thinking.

Ahhh, this I know. I was spammed out when I lived there. LOL!!! My buddy has a SPAM T-shirt.
As for the site. I can't give out the name yet as it's not quite ready for public viewing. We're still tweaking it and we need out final version grips to add to it. We want to have plenty of products on the site when it's launched.

Nah, value should be the same since they are just the old ones back again. Somewhere in a warehouse they just found a few thousand pairs that would survive through the next nuclear attack. Those grips are like cockroaches, nothing can kill them or wear them out. I think I still have some from my granpa's bike that are like new. Just kidding, hey Thumper are you a part of this new deal? Will they come with a 25 year warranty? Is it true that they were made to sell more gloves? And put me down for 3 pairs too.

Just got our samples late last week. Placed our first order today. We expect to have packaged re-issue Mongoose grips in about a month. They will be marked with an additional "R" on the flange facing the crossbar and will be made of a softer compound then the old callus shreaders.

Anybody remember getting 2 pairs of different colors and then cutting them in half to have 2 color grips. Putting half of one color on the inside and another color on the out side? I saw Sano with red and yellow for the old TGO team colors.

I remember doing that with red and blue oakleys. I followed an article in BMXA. They said to use Gorilla Snot to glue them onto the bars after. I couldn't find Gorilla Snot in Hawaii so the outer ends would always slide off. Ruined two sets of oakleys.
Hey Shannon,
Perfect grips for my Team Jag. I already ruined a set of original Oakley II's on my rider. Kinda costly to use original grips for my rider. Looking forward to using yours especially since they are of softer compound than before.
