Since the season is upon us & I have made it a point to get back on the mtb/road bike this year, I went out yesterday & bought some new riding gear.
I stopped into REI & picked up a pair of shorts by Zoic. I forget the name but they look like a pair of pleated dress pants, very stylish. They come with a pair of riding shorts inside that actually come out. The riding shorts don't look all that great so it's nice to know I can put my bibs on under neath & know I'll be comfy. $40.
I also stopped by Staats & picked up a set of 07' Troy Lee XC shorts & matching jersey. Got a great deal on close out so I bought them. The pant is alittle more heavy duty than your standard mtb pant. I compared it to the FOX pants & they are definatly more rugged which makes me wonder how cool they will be in 90*+ temps. When I got home neighbor Tom & I went for a 20 mile ride, I wore my new TLD gear. The pant has a liner & a pad. Both of which are as ill fitting as they can get. I thought about putting a pair of snug fitting shorts on first but decided to just go for it. The pad that is sewn in is worthless. It is big, flat & moves around way too much. The shell & the liner are great. So next ride I'll be putting on something underneath. I think I might even get a razor & carefully cut out the factory pad just to be rid of it.
Other than the lame pad I was very happy with the jersey & pant. TLD style doesn't suck either.
