Hi guys, awesome site and just love reading all the stuff I grew up on. Now I'm 36 with a couple kids and want to get back to the sport. I'm loking to get a used 24" cruiser and I've narrowed it down to:

Haro X24 Nyquist
Floval Flyer
GT

any recommendations? I know it's such a vague question..sorry..just interested on some input.

Thx

Hey man. Welcome back. I'm new here too. I'm 29 (30 this month) and just getting back into the sport after a 10yr hiatus. Im also building a new bike to race. Here's a couple tips from me from being in the same spot as you-

-Go to local track and see what everyone is riding and loving

-Look online at Dans COmpetition and J&R and other e-tailers and see whats new and in stock

-Gauge what you need by what you want and what's available and what matches your riding style and current abilities

-Above all have fun with it!!

maybe ask someone at the local track if you can take a spin on their bike.

The Nyquist is designed for dirt riding and a little heavy for race duty. The Floval and the GT are race bread machines. What will be the majority of your riding? What's your height/weight and what are looking to spend? I wish I was still 36

Go to the local track and see if there are any upgraded completes that someone might be selling. I was able to pick up a used vendetta with high quality upgrades (worth 1200-1300) for 400 bucks. Just a thought. Are you looking for a complete or a frame? look for sealed hubs and components. Check out Intense, Kuwahara, and Formula also for off the shelf completes.

Got ya..it looked a little beefy..Majority of my riding will be around the beach, dirt, street. I'm 5' 9", 175 lbs. All around riding with BMX capability.

I'm looking to spend no more than $400 for now..it doesn't have to be new..I saw this which looks pretty tasty:

Here's the Haro X24 Nyquist also:

Here's the GT I was also looking at:

I'd go with the floval if your street riding won't be too wild, otherwise the Nyquist although at 5'8" I felt a little cramped when I rode one. The GT looks like it has a 1" head tube. Cool for OS but I'd pass on anything with 1" threaded just for not having to check and tighten the head set constantly.

Oh Yeah I would expect the resale to be better on the Foval if that has any bearing on your decission. I'd check Free Agant and Red Line too.

Build a new GHP if you can find one.
