If this is who I think it is, I know you guys have some old BMX stuff stashed away. You've been around BMX long enough. Between you, your dad and your uncle, I'm sure of it...
Did you ever recover that Littlejohn hack that was stolen BITD?
Your dad told me not long ago you have some brand-new Speedo dual dropout forks that your shop never sold. If it's true, post up some pics!
dion, email me some pics, I'll host em up 4 ya

dion, i had three different ones between '79-'84, and i'm just guessing, but i thought after the first "a" frame they dropped the 2nd bar for '81, then brought back the thinner 2nd bar for '82. i could be wrong, i have been before. maybe mr. jeff utterback could chime in as he is a member here. or do a search on these forums.

Holy crap, if I had a #11 on my bike, that was definitely a long time ago. Tell everyone I said hello, and watch out for the BMX vultures. If you start posting up pics of all the old stuff you have, expect the emails to start coming in from people trying to low-ball you...

Sorry about the digression. This is supposed to be about your GJS. Hopefully, the "J" in the GJS will Chime in. Jeff frequents this site and should be able to give you some insight on your bike.
But since you guys are here, maybe you can help me. My dad picked up a pair of titanium brake pivot bolts from you guys back in '83 or so. They were front and rear ti road pivot bolts. I used the rear for a while, but it snapped off and I put the stock one back on. I still have the front one. I have been thinking about shortening it and putting it on my JMC like the one that broke. I don't really ride this thing anymore so breakage is not an issue and the coolness factor is worth it to me since titanium was a pretty exotic material in the early '80's. The thing is, I don't know who made it. Maybe you guys remember? Here's a picture of it:

The spring collar is aluminum and the threaded portion is ti.
I have no idea who made it...

I started with the museum in November, but started getting bored about a month ago, too. Same reasons I'm betting. Now I'm looking for a new hangout. Spending more time here and at OS.
Cool bike, too, by the way. I have one of those on my list. . .after I get a few more Torkers, or if I find one priced right. Been wanting one since about 1979 or 1980 when a friend of mine had one. All blue. I got my first Torker instead. Still lust after a nice old GJS though.
Just noticed the JMC, too. Wow. One of those (an older one 1979-1981ish) is on my list right after Torker and before a GJS. That one's amazing. Everything on it.

No, I ordered it from SBS when I worked @ a bike shop in Antioch. I bought the Race Inc. kit from you guys. You're correct.
I actually tried to find that bike. I had my Race Inc. 'til probably '85 or so. I built it up for lake jumping and left it @ Russ Rustkowski's house (sp). It's long gone. I do have pictures of it. I really need to fix my scanner...
In fact, I have a lot of pics of you guys. Roberto, Hector, you & your dad & uncle, Mike Winkler, etc. The really big guy w/ the blue PK RIPPER w/ Graphite tuff wheels, lol, I forget his name. The guy w/ the yellow rabbit that everyone piled into to go to races, Ha.
I need to post pictures!

Here's my rudimentary list. I've got some work to do still, but, I think it's pretty accurate.
Year Head tube gusset tubes Brake bridge Stickers SN - First Digit/Char
1978 Both Tubes same size No brake bridge gussett Blue stickers 8
1979 Both Tubes same size Brake bridge gussett Chrome stickers 9
1980 2 tubes. Unequal size. Brake bridge gussett Chrome stickers 0
1981 2 tubes. Unequal size. Brake bridge gussett Chrome stickers 1
1982 1 tube. Brake bridge gussett Chrome Rainbow sticker? 2
Still work to do on '83 and '84. The S/N starts with F(83) or G(84), but, a couple more frame styles to sort through. e.g. plate vs. gusset tubes and more
If anyone wants to provide additional info on frames/SN's etc. please PM.

Here is number 1271 the day it was built up in early 1980. It hangs on my wall (in my house, divorced her and hung up my bike where it belonged) today in unrestored, original condition.
http://www.vintagebmx.com/community/index....25&hl=myGJSIt hangs alongside number 1108 in orange powdercoat. Both circa 1980, both with smaller tube.
Good to be back!

This is good info. I'm wondering if perhaps there was no "zero" as a first, and the "1" = 1980 AND 1981? There aren't any SN's I've seen starting with a zero. Info is so scattered, you need to see some stuff to figure it out. The head tubes appear to be the same. I see pics in the museum showing "one year only" - the triangle gusset, but one is listed as 83 and one as 84.
I'm going to go the route of 80/81 as a "1" for now.
