Just before my son was born I saw this in a bike shop and bought it on the spot (hes 10 in 2 weeks) At that time I had no idea whether I was having a son or a daughter, but I knew that they would be riding BMX at some point in the future. Can anyone tell me when this frame was made and what age range it would fit. It has a 19" top tube, does that make it an Expert? Any comments about suggested parts would be welcome

Wow. That's the same bike as the very last one that I ever raced BITD, same colors even. I stopped BMX in 1989, so I would say that 1988 is right on the mark. I can't believe that I just found this site yesterday, and I'm looking at a pic of my old bike today. Awesome.

I know this thread is 2 years old now, but I just had to comment. Also, that bike was the bomb. I raced from age 4 till age 12, and rode that bike for the last 2 years or so. I placed best in my biggest races on that bike (4th at the Gold Cup Championship West in 88, I thought that was pretty good).

I was just 10 or 11 when I got that bike, but I'm pretty sure it was top of the line. So, your kid should be doing great on it. Very light bike. I think we got mine down to just over 10 lbs assembled.
