Hi everyone,
I raced from 1981-89 in the birls class-- powder puffs!!! I started when I was 7 and raced Jennifer Norman, Jennifer Hembury, Jodi seavolt, April Brumfield to name a few. My brother and cousin raced- Mike and Marc Flora. My dad ran the Springfield track for awhile.Wasn't that a cool track with the bridge. There's going to be a new track there in Springfield at the same place as the old track. Would love to see another bridge there!!
I grew up , got married and had kids. Now I have 4 of them racing.I think it would be neat for everyone to get together , bring pics, videos and just talk about the "old days." Has anyone tried to have a get together here in Ohio?
If any of you are interested in helping to design the Springfield track , find out what's going on there , or volunteer you can contact the guy who is getting this track going- kevin at 58emod@sbcglobal.net.
Steve Smith, I remember you. A couple of other names I haven't heard and they raced for Whitmans are Debbie Baker and a girl named Donna ... not sure of her last name tho.

No problem at all. Anything I can do to help, just give me a shout. Everyone approaches this a little differently, but I think we discussed a great place to start..
I doubt I am heading to Morristown, but Ray's is sounding better every day as the realization our outdoor season is quickly coming to a close.

Ray's is in Cleveland and is a massive indoor mountain bike park, but has plenty of things BMXers love to ride.

I would be all for expaning the "ohio vintage guys at Ray's" concept to a "Vintage BMX at Ray's" concept. Could be wayyyyyyy cooooolll!!!
Funny thing is, I've only been there once. But, I loved every second of it!

Stumpy, my cycle craft is '87 gary debacker signature series, bigger than a junior but smaller than an expert, factory colors light blue and razzberry, fredz bars, dk neck, bullseye cranks, hutch hubs, 20x1 3/8s wheels [rims, spokes pitted, rusty] age of rider 12-15 would be sweet bike for someones kid.

Anyone here race in Ohio back in the day during the 80's? Check in!
I raced from 82-87.
Anyone remember Lagonda in Springfield? How big and fast the Kettering Delco track used to be? How Brookville BMX was one of the first tracks in the nation to have a paved first berm? Remember the huge turn-out that we used to have at the Hilliard Indoor track?
A few names from back in the day: Nate Cheever (ran into him last year, he's doing good), Chad Lumpkin, the Danishek's (Bill and Niki), Billy Jones, Ted Jackson (ran into him last year, he's a police detective now), Dave Bordewich (sp?), Chuck Fugate, Doug Jicha, Jared Raflick, Steve Smith (he's on here now) etc, etc.
80's Ohio guys check in!
Lagonda in Springfield was awesome! Also, Todd Lyons, Billy Au, Lawan Cunningham and Bubba McIntosh were regulars at Hilliard, Cobra, phase 4 and of course, the Christmas Classic.

I used to order a lot of stuff from Whitman's over the phone and in the mail. Got hooked on their good service via the ads that were in Bicycles Today. Big Nard and the others there sent me the goods UPS fast. I even bought an all white Whitman's jersey from 'em. Sold it a while back online.
