Whatsup guys and ladies.. Been reading the posts, and just put back together my 1989 Haro RS Group 1.. I didn't start racing until 1988 @ brookville when it was NBL, (still have that license).. So I hope I qualify for the OS race?? Took a pic of my old school meets new school bikes..

Sean you have a pass [you are over 30 right?],i have heard recently at the races some of the new schoolies chatting about sliding in the race -were not going to bust anyones chops but i think most of us will know wether you raced in the 80s=be fair.
This will be kinda like the aunt mary candy display where you put the money in the slot for your candy[honor system]
Im not going to ask anyone for proof but she will ask you when you raced in the 80s and where[if ohio] .This is more for the oldschool ohio guys that havent raced i dont wanna set them up with a bunch of frank hulls to get them ran off the track.

HAHAHA laugh.gif Frank Hulls... But ya.. 33 here.. and I always want to race one of these type of races. I haven't rode this frame and fork for over 15yrs.. so Im kind of excited.. but I'm probably about 30lbs heavier now, so wondering if I'm going to break it by jumping it..lol.. But yeah, I totally agree with you, don't want any franks trying to ruin the meaning behind this.. I doing for fun, and looking for to racing both bikes...

Im thinking of having a check in station at my canopy ,you sign a guest book and i give you a poker chip to sign up with or something to that effect .This way we all know whos racing and in what class -theres no hand written moto sheets anymore to peek at ahead of time in registration its all saved in the pc til posting time.

Deleted all the pics I had of the cyclecraft. But, I do believe I still have all my orange and white racing gear. I will bring it with me to the race.

Still have all my orange and white racing gear. I have the old real old stuff from 82 and then the gear we started wearing around 86. I still have the cycle craft but it is not put together (just frame and fork) all the parts are on my JMC. I was going to switch it over but Ric said I should just leave it. What do you all think? I also have t shirts back from 1983 and old bmx racing papers. Couldnt find my #1 state plate only a #7. I also have a photo album that I will bring. Ric has it because he was going to post a few pictures but I will have him bring it.

Wow, what a small world. Mike Flora.... I know the name but cant put a face to it. Do they know each other? Have you seen chad at Fireman's BBQ's?

~Billy

My husband ,Jason, knows them both but only knew about Mike racing bikes. I didnt realize Chad was with the fire dept until the recent post. He works tomorrow and is going to try to look both of them up to see if they will be attending the race.

Just race your jmc .You can use the plate im giving up as 1st place prize donna .I have a feeling were going to have at least a whole gate of former #1s Bring the swag too. ill have a small table for the frames ,and peoples stuff on display.

If anyone has a lil pic of a nardie bird sticker i think it would be cool to try and get some made for the race to hand out ....

Thanks Steve....I may chicken out and just watch. Ric is saying he raced in 99 and I havent touched my bike since 1986-87. Its been 22yrs. I will be lucky if I can still balance on a bike. My daughter is turning 15 that day and she would love to race. She sure doesnt need to see me get out there and get killed by all the professional men.
steve smith
Ah youall will be fine ,my first race back in january i weighed in at 260 lbs !I was very loose from no exercise in a very long time but still managed to win a round and get i think second or 3rd in the main .. I think i felt faster then now cause i was so loose.I think you guys will shock many of the new cats at the track.
Btw for the very old school guys -theres no rubber band ,flag ,or magnet gates now .Its all electronic the cadence is prerecorded and the same everytime.I leave on the word WATCH in the watch the lights sequence .This should lessen you practice on the gates you will be gold if you leave between ready ----watch the lights.. NO GATE OFFICIALS but the gate is well over a foot taller then your wheel and the hill is prolly 20-25 ft tall so leap if you must

Of course, I will be there. As long as I can get that Sunday off from work. I think that I know which Jason is your husband. I’ll be looking for his call. I should know Mike. I just have to put a face with the name. As far as racing goes, I better play it safe on that one. Until August 24th, Lump

What about Mike and Tiffany Reddy?? Has anyone kept in touch with either of them?

Or Tony Cruz. All three were from the Reynoldsburg area.

I see Mike Sr. at a few automotive events each year. Mike Jr. is in Arizona, but I am not certain about Tiffany.

The last I knew Tiffany was a flight attendant in Cincinnati but that was several years ago.

I spoke to Mike Reddy not long ago, he's in Az, and he said his sister is living in Delaware.
I've wondered about Tony Cruz lately also.

Wow. Nice to see the name PhaseIV pop up. That was where all this BMX insanity started for me. Is the old track still there at all? I thought Dave Murray told me a couple years ago that it was still there.

PhaseIV - I kinda remember going to that race (88 or 89) but you didn't leave your name... the best that I can remember is that this may be Chris (can't remember a last name). And did we go to elementary school together?? (Rosehill elementary in Reynoldsburg??)

Chazbo473 - Phase IV is where it all started for me also (86). I'll be bringing a few pictures and an old track shirt from there. Are you coming to this get together and bring some pix if you have any!

Ricksimpson - Pohlkamp was a good friend who I haven't seen in awhile. Be sure to mention some of the names of people going to this thing and tell him he should be sure to come.

Looking forward to the weekend and don't forget to catch BMX on the Olympics this Wednesday evening!

Oh yeah, does anyone know what part of AZ the Mike ended up in. If he's close to Chandler, I'd like to look him up?

I don't know if i'm goin to make the race or not. Unfortunately, i don't have anything left from the Phase IV days, thanks to my mom selling off all my old race stuff at a yard sale a few years back. Guess she thought i didn't need any of that silly, old bike stuff anymore. sad.gif

I was by the old track not too long ago and it's still there. A little overgrown and worn down but still there. I thought I saw an ad a while back in the For Sale section where it was for sale. $179,000 rings a bell for price but don't quote me. I loved that track. Especially Friday night racing!

The track actually belongs to my stepdad. My name is Chris Allman, and I spent alot of time there growing up. So much so that's how my mom ended up getting re-married, with my involvement in racing she started to volunteer and met Tom who owned the property and ran the track. Yes the track is there, unfortunatly it's under about 3' of grass/weeds. The property is for sale with or with out the track. smile.gif

It's been awhile since I've seen Mike, but I'm sure the last time I did the tail was long gone.

I'm not Italian. I guess if I have the voice inflection of Joe Pesci my heritage could be misunderstood. The Joe Pesci thing stings a little, though.

Hey very long time no see !I wish i were italian i sunburn like a albino. You know im just teasing that was im guessing 20 + years ago we were watching those dorks on the horse trail on dirtbikes at hamilton and hearing the drag cars at tri state across the river .Funny back then id never guessed id ever have a race car and run it over on the other side of the river too.
Funny too i woulda never guessed i would ever hear from you again. You coming to the reunion ?Ever talk to any of the old crew?
protour77
So who all is coming Sunday? We are in.

Brian Wick & Family
md100
Steve:

I do not see very many (actually no) people from back then. It is probably better that way since I was a jerk at times. I can not go to the reunion but it sounds fun. I got back into racing a couple times a year for a while. I could get into it but my kids are not all that interested (hopefully they will be.) I don't want to be like the D Bag parents that force their kids to live the parent's dreams.

I work in Fairfield, so I get close to Hamiltons track now and then. On a good day, with the smell of the sewer plant and the sounds from Tri State Dragstrip, I can close my eyes and a lot of the memories return. Still a lot of dorks around here though.

I started looking at this websight and saw this thread. I had no intention of posting until I was mentioned. I don't really feel slighted at all by the Joe Pesci comment. I get called all kinds of stuff. I guess the Joe Pesci thing explains why I never had any game. I tan well but it I am not Italian. It is kind of nice to see some of the familiar names on here. I have no reason to go to a highschool reunion, but I met a lot of good people through BMX.

Martin
steve smith
Well martin i wouldnt have mentioned your name if i didnt have alot of respect for you/memories [or any of the rest in here i mentioned even if i picked on some of you]It would be good to see you again if you get a chance- stop by hamiltons track i plan to race there more when they switch to sat races .Also monroes got a top notch track just built this week that will knock your guys socks off they hope to have a national next year .This track dwarfs middletowns old track in size /jumps /turnsas many other old tracks
Cant remember who the tall guy was we hung with- was it barnhardt?I went over to richmond a few weeks ago and ran a indiana state race and remembered you and the sandman guy everyone used to talk about that lived in richmond and would come to hamilton some in the early 80s.I think 84 was the last time i raced in richmond so that was a major timewarp.Good to hear from you,i know many of the gang all remember you even if they dont remember your name you were quite the cut up..

Jack has been talking with matt pohlcamp all along and we knew he was prolly going to come we didnt mention it cause the poor feller almost made the OLYMPICS and woulda been a lil too busy to make it ....

Im hoping things dont get real bad fast for my mother in law -shes terminal with cancer in her last few days right now -the old school event may be difficult for me to pull off without some help ,brian wicks helping out well just see looks like weather may be iffy i hope this goes without a hitch i been looking forward to it for a long time..

So who all is coming Sunday? We are in.

Brian Wick & Family

I'm going to try to go Sunday.... I'm building a pole barn and my father in law is helping. He farms, so when he shows up, we work until dark. Hopefully he'll have plans on Sunday, or we'll finish up by then. I'm ready to get a few laps in, and the TA could use a little dirt.

James Gregory

Have a good time this weekend, keep the rubber side down. I was going to stop by and say "hi" but I am going to be out of the country on business.
bbarress
have a good safe time guys...get photos!
Chris C.
I am coming and bringing the family. In fact, we are coming Saturday and staying over night. We are going to hit Newport Aquarium Saturday.

The bad news is that I wanted to bring more old bikes and memoribilia. Just won't be room for 3 of us, overnight bags, and much BMX stuff primarily because I am fearful of leaving the bikes on the bike rack in Newport. So, they'll have to be disassembled and put in our Jeep, making very little room for much else.
protour77
We got a new video recorder so we will bring it down this weekend to get some footage. I may also bring the laptop so I can burn copies on the spot for everyone depending on how long it takes
ricksimpson
they were working on the first straightaway today.....................should be nice and smoooooooooth

Well I just booked my flight and will be there. I think there should be an award for the furthest hall to make the reunion!! 1600 bucks for 4 days from BC to Cin, then the drive!! It will be all worth it, cant wait to get back there and see whats been happening. Someone else had mentioned it but I as well dont attend high school or college reunions, the bulk of trusting relationships were made during the 80's with BMX, friends and family. See you guys on Sunday!!

They're having a double point race tomarrow and im going to go over and setup the canopy so noone trys to rope it off for sunday .I may be there most of tomarrow if my son wants to race .
I stopped by the track yesterday and it looked like some kids left about a dozen shoveloads of dirt on a few jumps otherwise its untouched .Bob and anna were pulling up in bobs truck with wheelbarrells and shovels [dont know wtf they were planning to do with them]Looked like they mellowed out the front side of the second jump with some dirt .If you cant ride at kettering now you should consider reclassing to beginner.
Looking forward to seeing all you guys be safe on your way!

Just so everyone can find me, I will be driving a black Chevy Tahoe with a Vintage BMX sticker and a Dale Jr. sticker in the back window. I will be there with my wife Vanessa and 2 girls. We will also have our little puppy too. I ride a Redline flight and wear red Fly gear. I am looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday.
