Thanks Chris, but that Red JMC Cruiser is attached to my manhood. If I got rid of it, then what would I be? Honestly, it would be the LAST bike that I would get rid of if I had to sell off my collection. I ride it everyday, it is my practice bike. Its sad but, I have already let go of few this year to make ends meet. Sell a few to keep many.

That bike is so gorgeous and it is just so cool that you ride it!

Hey Kent - don't know if you remember me but I was from Southern Ohio. We raced together in the wos in 1982 & 1983. I think that Matt Ling was still a class below me when I stopped racing. It's good to see your name. Jim Foster

Everybody is seems to be buisy getting ready for the outdoor season.(Have to get the Spring cleaning done) The old track is comming dawn in TOLEDO and the dirt is moving to the new location. Looks like there is enough room and dirt to make a really nice track. I believe it should start taking shape in the next few weeks.
Went to DaytonIndoor's State race yesterday. 19 motos, not a really big turnout but the 36-40 cruiser moto had a fll gate. Jeff Hampton showed up and was really tearing it up. He had a little mishap down the first straight and most of the class fell. This opened the door for me to take the win. He seemed to hurt his ankle and everybody else seemed to be OK too. I think this may have been my last race this year for the indoor track. Really looking forward to warmed weather and the outdoor tracks opening up. Tommy

Hey Steve,

Any idea of when the old school race will be and are we doing it at at the same track?
Chris C.
We know a couple people at Heer Park. Primarily due to it's central location, it might be a cool place for the event.

I'm in anywhere it takes place, depending on the date. Still have a few months before it need to be planned. Need to get to the outdoor tracks and see what everybody thinks. Columbus sounds good to me. I know that Brad in Toledo would be honored to host it, but I know thats a long drive for most of the riders going. Hope to see you guys soon on the track. Tommy
PS: can't wait to see what the prizes will be this year(that will be going home with me). HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA tongue.gif

colubus is 2 hours closer for me, but i'll drive anywhere. We need to try to contact those who are still mia and those who r not on vintage.

Hey everyone. Spent the morning reading this post, wish I would of saw it earlier. Couldn't believe someone brought up the Hales. Mike Hale and I were good friend, had a blast racing him.
wish I could of been a part of the Ohio state series back in the day, Indiana is home. Really loved racing in the western part of Ohio. I always felt I was a part of the Ohio crowd. Was even more fun to race the Indaian series where no one knew who I was.

April is here and our outdoor season is comming soon, I went to Hobart last week and got fell on by another rider on the first straight. I need to relace the rear wheel- missing some spokes. (Indoor racing is so tight) Time to put the 1.5" wheels on. Can't wait to hit some big jumps that only the outdoor tracks can offer. Ohio is has a number of great tracks. I will be doing my part this year of hitting as many as I can. Sombody needs to order some better weather this year for the OS race. All of you racers who haven't had a chance to do any indoor racing this winter, its time to lube the chain and clean off the dirt. Lets go racing. See ya all soon. Tommy

Jeff, you should put your name in your signature so everyone knows who you are .

You and tommy really should hit the close nbl nats this summer and grands i think you 2 can win some natls right now .Ed combs has been sitting top 5 in that class all year, and you guys are 4 bikes at least faster then him .
I shot wildman a email yesterday , hopefully next week we can set a date on the ol school race .It may not be late summer like last year on a state race .May just be a local race .Todd has interbike expo during the grands and is overseas 2 weeks a month he has a crazy schedule so im trying to accomodate him too.
I fractured my elbow at dayton indoor a week or so ago and im on the dl right now ..sucky time to be hurt -at least theres no big races near here right now ..If you have any pics jeff post em up ..Those pics mike sr posted were just amazing i know theres more lurking out there.

This year anyone over 30 yrs old can race no ohio regulation ...indiana ,ky,mi your all welcome to race .We should have a powder puff class too since there were at least 4 last year .If any of ya have big wheelers we should do that to0 havent seen a big wheel race in over 25 years .

I'd look rather silly riding a big wheel ( @ 6'6")

Hey Russ,
Welcome to Vintage my man! It's getting warm out, about time to dust the bikes off and start riding so MAYBE we can get in on the oldskool race this year. I looked for you on Facebook but you disappeared. Too bad the "dust bowl" near your parents house became condo's, that was a fun place to ride. We'll find some new spots tho! Hope all is well your way and give me a call (937)272-3280

Doni Hier was practicing at Akron 2day on his Titan 24" I told him to sell it on ebay and update for a come back! He's still fast, just needs some lungs.

So its about that time, wondering how many OS riders are planning to make it out for the 2nd annual race?? Hoping to have it at a different venue this time, just to mix it up some.. I'd like to mix it up with the Wildman!!!

Hello All,

My home track was South Park Pa-but every winter we would come to Columbus for the MidWest Championships and the Christmas invitational.
It's Nice to see the names of the guys I raced on this thread and still being involved in the sport we love
I used to love those huge jet heaters they had around the track. In my book Columbus was the best indoor track on the Circuit.

All the best,

Craig, we worked at making the track as good as it could be. But, the racers and the excellent competition was probably the best reason to be there.
There were a lot of you PA guys that made it to those races and always did very well.

Mike I couldn't agree more.
The racing was superb-I was just looking at pictures from the 1984 race.
We would load up the Vans with guys like Paul Scamardi #1pa factory Powerlite-Tim Anderson Pro neck-I raced Factory Vector at that time and had the National #9 plate and every year it was a awesome race-one of my top five favorites. So I thank all of you for a great track and fantastic racing.
Also-I was just looking at a picture of the 1984 Murray World cup-I raced JD Lind all day 1 and 2. He was National #12 and raced for Factory Schwinn. I'm pretty sure he was from Ohio. Does anyone remember him.

I remember racing jd and mike lausman at hilliard a ton ...

Hello All-
I had a question for who ever can answer it.

I asked in a earlier post if JD lind was from OHIO because I was trying to figure out who I was racing in my pictures from the Grands. I might be getting JD Lind and JD Finney mixed up.

My pictures I was looking at was either the 1983 Grand Nationals or the Murray World Cup. We finished 1 and 2 in the mains and I don't know which JD it was.
Does anyone know which JD had the #12 national plate and raced Factory Schwinn in 83'.

Not sure what Ohio track this is from. I'm thinking this was '77. Factory Schwinn was at this race (Rupe's and some others). I was from Pa and rode for Wheels Unlimited. In front of the NBA truck is the owner of the shop and Matt Harris. So long ago can't remember the track....

Jd lind was from ohio or somewhere close to the tri state .He rode for dk.
Jd finney was from tx or oklahoma .I believe that jd finney had a better record of wins and was more of a aba rider .i got them confused as well .But thinking back i remember racing jd at hilliard in 83,and 84.I think he quit sometime around 84 or 85.
Cant really see him in the photo but someone id'd jd lind in this superbowl bmx photo [dk rider #3]
maverick
Steve- Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't JD always ride with his body over the bars? I remember racing a JD at nationals and states that is fast but I was always thinking he was going to flip over the bars because of his riding style but never did.
steve smith
Yeah ,
He was real fast but in the summer he was 1/2 year younger them me[he raced with you and lausmans age at the grands right greg?] .Him and mike lausman routinely beat me at hilliard in 83/84 .I think jd quit before i ever got a chance to race him in 85 when i started getting faster.

I always raced JD at the grands but lausman usually aged up at grands time depending on the dates the grands was held. I think I only raced against Mike a couple of times.

Your right it has to be JD Lind. He did ride heavy on his bars and was always big for his age. I also raced him a lot at Nationals. I'm looking at the picture when I was racing him at the Grands and he has what looks like DELUXE Bicycle Shop on the side of his helmet. Does this ring a bell to anyone?
Last I heard from JD when he quit BMX was he was racing Ten Speeds.

My first grands was either 83 or 84 and I wasn't sponsored by anyone except mom and day. My number was 75 for 20" and 66 for 24", I never made a grands main as a kids.

Anyone remember or have pics from the 1982 ABA Ohio State Fair National, Columbus OH? I got 2nd in A Pro Trophy (Roger Hertzberg). I was from IL and think that was the only time I raced in the Buckeye State.

Sent the pic jimbo thats cool you are in there i dont know how we all missed it .

Craig and greg ,i think some of the birthday business had to do with some of the age freezing they used to do bitd .I never raced lausman ,purse, milham ,romero at the grands i aged up in may [may also be the reason im in some of craigs pics /motos in 83 since i was older then him and it was after my age up in may .

roger ,theres a pic or 2 of billy au way back in this thread from the fairgrounds race [only mention ive seen in here ]
