Yes, hairspray!
Aw, Springfield. Two small tight laps as I remember, but really fun.

edit: There is a slight chance this is Springfield. I just don't remember if they used hay bails in the corners, but I don't know where else it would be.

Mike,
I talked to Gary Stanley on Wed. and the mystery of the unknown rider on the cover is solved, it is his daughter Brandi of Springfield. And also, thank you for the reply. Will be in contact when the time gets closer. If you would give your opinion on layout, that's all we could ask.

I'm no help, I can't even name the track. The pinstriped helmet was Marty Brown or Tony Ooten though. They would have been born around 1967 + or - a year .

Mark has a son named Matt Hardy who is very fast and races 12X and cruiser. I might be off on the age but its close and as far a Norwalk goes I don't think he runs it.

NOt sure where that pic was taken, but I think Mark is younger than anyone born in 67. My guess is, from racing in Mansfield in the early 80s, that Mark is 40 or 41 at the oldest now. He and Billy Au always seemed to be ABA state 1 and 2, if I remember.

Mike,
I think Todd is right. The fence in the background looks like Ft. Hamilton too. I am not sure about the year, but it is very likely a State Race because there are a bunch of corner workers in the turn. They hosted a state race in '83 but not '84.

The area behind the turn looks like hamiltons fenceline .But the seat/chair that looks like the starting gate in the middle of the back of the turn would be in wrong location unless this pic was pre 81 .That may just be a illusion to me but it looks like the starting gate is behind that turn .And hamiltons 2nd turn was more of a euro than this one .?
So is that mike readdy jr in the jmc gear?
i just looked again all 3 of these look very similar thats prolly not the starting gate in that turn.

You dont have to be in shape billy im living proof....But the 35-39 and 40-44 are the 2 biggest toughest classes in the nbl .If you can win the first straight the wider the better they cant pass if your as wide as the straitaways ..

I bet I could dig up a ton of pics from Hamilton from 1979 thru 1983 - I raced from 14 to 18 expert and cruiser. I'm sure I have a few from the pit too! I'm not sure what kind of stories I can remember thru the cobwebs. I remember we had a couple of nationals there in 1981 or 1982. Mike Reddy, it is good to see your name - I still have a great photo that you took of me at the Jag race in Indy in about 1981. I ran around with Todd Bitter, Chris Johnson, Mark Clark and Mike and Jeff Hale and I remember Fred Tressler, Steve Paul, Mark Hayes, Bruce Brockert, Roger Williams and Frank Henry. My memory is very suspect, but here is a rider I cannot recognize with his helmet on. There is an (98)"A" on the plate and sounds like the age could be right. If it's not Robin or Russ, I'd like to know who because he looks like Doug Zimmer to me and the plate would not match. I'll probably be embarrassed to hear the answer.

Hi Crys, I should have a photo somewhere of a finish line with you in it that I used for NBL training classes, but I don't know where. BA is the Eagle Snacks uniform I think. I wish I had more of the rider with the McFarland's on the sleeve so we could see him too. I do think Rick wore the U2 helmet.
