I was reading a thread about your favorite set of wheels BITD and it reminded me of this,
Anyone ever have this happen to them or was it my incredible strength BITD, I had a set of Bullseye Hubs, Loved those things, Bullseye made a great set of hubs, But I remember Snapping out of the gate and breaking the rear axles, this happened to me about 4 times one year, I ordered new axles from bullseye and it happened again, I remember it happened to me at the Murray World Cup in Nashville in 1985 and I couldn't find anyone with an extra set so I had to race the rest of the weekend with a set of painted Pink Tuff wheels I got from someone and i raced that weekend like a guy who should be racing with Pink wheels,
so was I the incredible Hulk when it came to gate starts or was this a common thing with bullseye hubs ??????

You must have super-human strength! LOL.
I ran bullseye and never had a problem with the axles (bolts). I loved those hubs.

I broke a Philwood axle shaft. Faulty part most likely as I weighed a whole 115lbs.

I don't know, did you take a close look at thin the wall of the axel was? if yopu didn't keep the bolts tight or the bolts weren't threaded far enough in they weren't that hard to break. it was most common with Race Inc., FMF, Se, and other alloy frames with thick drop outs and protection washers.
The bullseye's with the thru bolts were pretty much indestructable.

Yep the shaft that the allen bolts go into is what I was talking about. The ones that I have seen broken all happen at the collar

you did need to make sure the bolt went in past the bearing or all the stress was on the hollow part. to this day i often find myself putting in longer bolts to achieve this.
