Hey guys, I am very new to BMX and need help picking one of the 2 bikes.

Redline RL444 (2005) great condition (all stock)
Haro Backtrail 24 (2006) great condition (all stock)

Both are right at about 100$

The reason I am getting a bike is because the wife wants to start riding for exercise. Don't get me wrong, I need it, but no other bikes really appeal to me as I am old and grumpy, and always wanted the BMX I could never have when I was younger, so alas I am getting one.

My questions are

1) Which bike is better for just cruising around with the wife?
2) Which bike will have a better resale?
3) Are they 2 totally different bikes all together or just 2 different companies?
4) Which one is a better value for the 100$ tag?
5) Which one would be funner and more practical to turn into a project if I wanted to get crazy and "old school" it out?

Thanks a ton for any useful advice ahead of time!

The Haro more than likely has 3 piece cranks, what does the Redline have? The Redline was not as MASS produced as the Haro was, so the RL444 IMO would be better if it hase 3 piece cranks.

Thanks for the response. Not sure about the cranks. I can ask the guy when I talk to him next time. Does anyone know where I can get the specs for the redline?

If the Redline is chrome with the square rear end, buy it instead of the Haro. The Redline has a 22" top tube, very comfortable. There are a million of the Haro back trails and they're heavier than the Redline, more of a dirt jumper. The Redline RL444 is burly too, you can jump them without worry. I know this first hand because I have one as my practice/daily rider. Have fun, don't feel weird about buying the bike you never had as a kid....just about every over 30 adult on this site has done just that.. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif cool.gif

Thanks! The Redline may have just exited my budget because of shipping costs though. If anyone is around Eastern Carolina, its on the Eastern Craigslist. The kid selling it is pretty cool too.

I have a Redline RL444 that I restored. I like the way it rides and how comfortable it is.

Wow that thing is sweet. I think I am getting a Mosh that is closer to home. The Redline is for sale on Eastern Carolinas craigslit.
