I am trying to get some more info on the forks on my loop 1982 (presumably) Quadangle.

I haven't had much luck finding out about them.

They are un-stamped Landing Gear without the holes.

I have not seen many other pairs like this in 20" size.

Can anyone confirm the production date and numbers made of these forks?

I had assumed 1981-ish.

When the PK Ripper frame was introduced in 1979, SE started using Cycle Pro forks as their "BMX Innovations" forks. In 1978 Scot began the development of their own fork in earnest and introduced SE's own fork for the first time 1979

The dropouts on the very first sets of Landing Gear were solid (had no holes). Soon after, SE started punching 3 holes in the dropouts

I would say you have mid to late 80s forks
AndyDiamond
OK - anyone else?

Um, I'm gonna disagree with Aggy. Your's are not mid to late 80's forks, and contrary to what Scot himself said, it is common knowledge that the Landing Gear forks weren't introduced until 81. Your's are from the innitial runs that had no holes. Your forks are definately late 80 or early 81, WITHOUT A DOUBT.

Now to explain my comment on Scot, so there is no "flaring" here. Scot is obviously a huge authority on all things SE, since he is/was SE BUT in a letter to another member, he made the comment that SE never used Skyway Tuff forks on their bikes. I then went through pics from Scot's PERSONAL database that Muxter had at OS and found two pix, one of PK and one of Rod Beckering BOTH with Skyway Tuff forks. My point is this. Over the last 30 years, Scot has been through and put himself through alot and his memory of certain things doesn't always serve him correctly. There are magazine pics to prove this. THIS IS NOT A FLAMING ON SCOT, just making a point on LG fork timeline for Andy.

Brian, I have to agree. And the fact is, lets be realistic, we're all getting old(er)... (ugh..LOL), and our memories aren't exactly perfect. I mean, I swore Bubba Hayes came out to New Zealand, and raced a Reynolds Quad, when in fact, he was on a PK... Andy corrected me on that one..

Thanks again Brian - you always have the SE info down.

Yeah - Bubba had a PK and he was fast!
I remember getting a bunch of Bicycle Source decals from him and Perry Kramer at a race meet down here.
PK had retired but he still kicked a$$!!!

OK - Hector thinks mine are 90s forks?

They are threaded and unstamped - I thought all post 85 SE forks were stamped?

I went back and re read what I had posted since there is no way I would say they are 90s forks..

Then I see where I fugged up. I meant to say mid to late 1980 as in june/july/august of 1980, not mid to late 80's as in 86/87/88

I apologize for the confusion
AndyDiamond
no problem Hector!

How thick are the dropouts ? 1/8" oe 3/16" ?

early 80's w/1/8" dropouts, with the small 5/16 opening..

the fork openings were streached open to fit a non sloted 3/8" axel tongue.gif

"I had assumed 1981-ish." you are correct ....

My loop tail with landing gear forks was purchased in nov-dec? '80. It had solid drop-outs as yours.
