I was going through some catalogs today looking for some bumpers for my atv when I came accross a company called DG and their logo is the samw as the DG bmx company. Is DG out of bikes and making bumpers these days?

DG has always been a motorcycle accessory company that just happen to make BMX too. just like Webco and FMF. when the BMX market went flat for them they quit BMX and stuck with the motorcycle stuff. their main segment of the aftermarket these days is quads. smile.gif

Ok thanks I thought it was a little odd when I saw the DG logo.

But if you ask me I think they should take another look at BMX just like FMF did. wink.gif

Ya that would be cool and maby some other old bmx companys will jump of bord(hutch.cw.torker) biggrin.gif biggrin.gif rolleyes.gif smile.gif

good luck!
I've emailed and wrote letters to them over the years to get decals and ?? and they have NO interest in the BMX stuff. I guess they sold the rights to the bmx side of DG and have no plans or interest on getting back into it.
it's too bad.

You're right that is a shame but I'm just getting back into bmx and have been riding dirt bikes and quads, now currently own a predator 500 along with my kids quads and Dg has several upgrades to quads and mx which I still purchase to this day, as a proud original owner of a DG super pro and Dg Skibel replica. I would love to see another bmx'er

this is a letter I got from DG back in 97 when I was trying to find out about getting decals for my DG.

FMF did not start making bikes again. they were asked to use thier name by an x diamondback employee. he started FMF back up. they had no intentions of making bikes again.
i think it's great they let him.

If you live in the mid-west and go to County Market you can buy DG cat food, maybe it makes your cat faster. OZ probably imports it to Bozeman for Captain Cosmo.

Isn't all FMF stuff made overseas, and what's up with all the rip offs of other manufactures designs?

as far as i know there are no other manufactures designs.

it's a book with different designs that you point at. this front triangle, that chain stay, this seatstay.....etc. then i want this head angle, top tube length, chain stay length...etc.

so if your design guy didn't pick up a magazine or go to the races you are going to get frames that look the same.

my new prototype diamondback reactor pro 24 has the same rear end as a intense sabot, and totally different front triangle. i mentioned it to them and they didn't know and said it was not intentional. to tell the truth i don't care i rides great. one of the best bikes i have rode.

You're correct. DG (Dan & Gary) in Anaheim, CA sold the BMX side to Ed Smith who moved DG BMX to San Diego, CA. The later DG round stickers say DG BMX San Diego.

FMF never made their own bike frames to begin with. the original FMF frames were made by Bill Bastian. He also did the Kawasaki frames the triple A Rascal frames the
Cycle pro aluminum frames and the aluminum frames for Laguna over the years. not to mention all of SE racings frames until 1981. Plus his own brand Race inc.

The early DG stuff also used BMX. Early on they used it, then they went just DG Performance. Then when Ed bought it went back to DG BMX...

1976 Catalog....

I'm refering to the Dead ringers of Avent Cabon frames that FMF currently makes. I understand that designs have a tendancy to bleed over to other makes but that is a blatent rip off. To me it would be no different than Staats buying a bunch of Supercross and badging them as Staats. Maybe FMF buys the carbon frames from Avent? Who knows. I just don't have alot of resect for a company who can't show a little originality.

Yep I knew FMF didn't make their own frames BITD. Bill made frames for a number of companies. Profab did as well.

lol, Its funny you say that about Staats, That just what they did!
They bought about 250 Supercross/2003 directlink frames a few years back and resold them.
I know I bought a few.
