I have a Hutch frame with the # 0441016 stamped on the inside of one of the rear dropouts . Is there a way to find out which model it is by this ? Thanks
mr coasterbrake
no. hutch serials are not of much use other than determining where it was made and, to some degree, approx when...sometimes.

i can say yours is an American made frame, though.

model can be determined by:

top and down tube diameters, and top tube length (measured center of headtube to center of seattube).

probably from around 83 - 85.

The top tube is 1" and the down tube is 1 3/8" . The center of headtube to center of seat tube is 19.5" . Thanks again

Won't help you with the model but...

http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/hutch/
"In 1980-81 the hutch bmx frames had no serial #and the hutch logo was drilled out of the brake bridge. second version(82-83) still had no serial #and the hutch logo was stamped into the brake bridge in western style font.the last version is similar to the second one but with serial #on the inside left rear dropouts these # are 7digits and are all numerical... the first batch of frames starts w/123 the second one starts w/014 all from the years 83'84...the last batch before going overseas for production was # that begin w/08xxxxx...
the japanese version had serial # as well but w/a (baseball logo at the end of the numbers)and the forks are made by TANGE..
the taiwan version had serial # on the bottom bracket w/ 4 "stamped out"... "

--Someone let me know if this is wrong, I'm curious about the accuracy of the info.

with the exception of the typical Hutch annomalies aside, it's generally accurate. there were a lot of unexplainable issues/differences with Hutch stuff, so sometimes ID'ing something 100% for certain isn't going to happen.

interesting that blurb is posted on Museum 'cuz most of it is almost verbatim-copied info from JJRs' site written by JJR and myself...hmmm.

I just found the info with a quick Google search. Sorry guys, not associated with bmxmuseum other than a bike pic or two over there. Hope it isn't a problem.

Thanks alot for the info , This frame has been in my dads basement since the 80's . I never really gave it much thought until he asked what I wanted to do with it . I picked it up and saw HUTCH stamped on ther rear brake support . That and a 4130 cromoly sticker were the only markings on it . I thought about building it up for my son until I checked on getting all the components and they are priced at a point to which it didn't make sense to let him beat it up . I built up a schwinn predator for him that worked out great . But I still have this beautiful frame that calls me at night and says build me ! Is that sick or what ? Anyway thanks again
