Dennis, even if it was crystal clear you'd still be a geek.

What are friends for?....no, seriously! What are friends for??? tongue.gif

It's a good thing I have a high self esteem or that might offend me.

Red, much better pic in your gallery! I'm just a pee wee at 39 now. New to the site and love hearing the guys I read about jab at each other.I'm definitely os and this site has got me going again with my kids starting now later than I was but I thought the sport was all but gone. My wife doesn't share the same excitement but she didn't live it as a rider from 75 to 83.
Thanks guys, very ccol!!!!

I am fortunate that I met my wife thru the BMX sceen back in '77 and she knows all my knucklehead friends. She knows Stu, Greg Hill, Toby, Jeff Bottema, Kramer, Clinton and the rest.

Her brother, Jon Anderson, started out on Hank and Frank in Northern California. Then spent many successful years on Redline and finished his career on CW.

Stu and I spent so much time together BITD that we have a lifetime "jabs" to take at each other. LOL

You had better be good friends with someone to race off Bonsai at Saddleback in shorts with them.
The Red Baron
Here is a picture from last summer at a local downhill service road in a park. That is me and Reilley1 on the hack with Stu diving the inside.

Love the hacks my older buds had them BITD on my dad's race team just locals in IN. I appreciate all the comments!! We weren't bad had some state plates and traveled the midwest as I posted earlier. My bro. and I were Skibel and Fleming ages and it was fun to race THE DG guys at the Jags, still hope to get the DG's back together Skibel and super pro, ERA correct, I hope! DG original owners!
Thanks Red Baron!
You guys are the way is was meant to be! Racing because it was a way of life.Unless you lived it you don't get it. BRING BACK BMX WHERE YOU HAVE TO PEDAL AND PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN! I'm trying to adapt! I made my kids read ANATOMY OF A HOLESHOT IN A 78 issue of BMXA. Same applies who's first owns the track!!

If you want to race to the finish, you must finish the race!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dennis, it is interesting you mention Jon Anderson. He seemed to forever be riding for Redline (longest serving team member?), and he seemd to be constantly duking it out with Richie Anderson.

What is he up to nowadays? Can you fill us in on when he went from Redline to CW? (I dont recall that). I like hearing about where these racers all ended up in life smile.gif
The Red Baron
Jon is a very reserved person, especially when it comes to his BMX history. I have basically known him since he was 9, but we also lived 465 miles apart. I dated and married his sister, I did not keep tabs on his career. wink.gif

I don't know the specifics of his team history. I do know he spent a lot of years on Redline and then a year or so on CW at the end of his racing career. My wife thinks it was probably 88 at the latest.

I have talked to him on multiple occasions about his racing days. His answers are usually short and sweet. It was something he did back then and he has moved on. The one thing he told me that blows me away is that one year at the ABA Grands he quadrupled, won 4 mains!

Anyway, he now lives in Southern California and works as a machinest at a shop that builds drag racing brake and suspension components. He is trained in CadCam and he does design and prototyping. He is very talented but also very humble. He still races his R/C trucks and he golfs.

That's about it. He has grown up well and is definitely an asset to society. Whenever I need help on a project I am working on at home, he is always willing to help out.

Dennis,

Well, next time you're talking to him, slip in that a 41 year old ex bmx racer down here in little ol' New Zealand still remembers his name, and photos in the magazines. I still clearly remember him duking it out with the Avalanche, and I do recall he was a very consistent racer.

Kind of ironic, I started my career as a machinist, doing a fitting/turning apprenticeship, and I now am programming supervisor one of one of the largest Waterjet Propulsion companies in the world, based here in Christchurch, New Zealand.

I know all about CAD/CAM (I am also a part time support rep for the software I used, and I do a bit of freelance programming).

I always like hearing where some of these great racers have ended up. He certainly sounds like he is doing well. You should try and get him on here sometime.

Thanks for the info!

Cheers,

Mike
