looking back on BMX BITD there was always some Kid at the track who knew everything about all the newest BMX parts and had the parents with the money to Buy em,,

I was never one to keep up on the newest BMX parts and Frame and Forks BITD, I just found the parts that were right and stuck with em,

But looking back it seemed that every track you went to there was always some kid who would Stare at your Bike while you were sitting in Staging waiting to race who had some comment about how Profile Cranks were better than Redline Flights, or Phil Wood was better than Bullseye, and that same Kid who seemed to know what was the best part to put on a bike, had the most expensive Bike at the track, But yet when you did take the time to watch the liitle smart a@& race he was always the slowest goofball there,

At our track here in Louisville that Kids name Started with An H, (I will Leave it at that) he had all the cool new stuff one year he showed up with a Hutch Pro Star and for Sh*&'s and Gigles he even had a Hutch trick Star to Ride in the Pits, hell I even think he had the leathers and the Hutch helment, Now don't get me wrong here there was nothing wrong with a Kid, or his parents Buying him the latest Gear in BMX, But it always seemed that this Kid and the other kids who were like this that I ran into around the country at different tracks were always a bunch of smart a@#Es who couldn't ride for crap,

we tried to like the Kid but he was just a big spoiled brat,,did you have a kid like this at your track ???????

Ill name drop ,how about JARED CHRISILOFF
His dad was family with menard indy racing and the kid had a bike made almost 100% outta titanium pedal cages, pedals, handlebars, stem, hubs, spokes, axles, cranks .
I worked for a guy that fueled on a indy car team and i towed a indy car over to menards about 9 years ago and i bumped into the dad at the shop -i recognized him and we talked for a lil bit .
Extream rich kid 4 sure.

Gary Grubb, his parents owned a new auto sales place.
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
There was a girl racer who had a Cinelli frame/ fork
with everything full Campagnolo.
But she was pretty nice to me.
So I can't hate on her.

I had a friend named Johnny Johnstone who always had trick bikes. I built my Race Inc. as a replica of his, except his had the NEW Z rims with blue and yellow spokes. We didn't race, just rode the trails all day and the streets at night.

I always noticed BITD that the kid with all the newest latest parts were the ones just sitting on their seat watching others hit the big jumps at our local trails. We called them posers back then. .....I might be a poser now smile.gif , I sit back and watch all the young kids hit the big stuff thinking if only I had the $alls to jump big again, or even jump!
Mike'Ultimate Sin of Bmx'Crehan
Having all the latest stuff didn't make any of them win IMO

Had a kid like that in my class. His dad bought him EVERYTHING!! Would change gears inbetween motos, change out bars, even saw him change out crank sizes. I cant tell you how many bike he had. Funny thing is when I first met him I hated him with a passion. He ended becoming one of my best frinds a year or to later.
On a side note he a had Wedge f&f that he was using for freestyle. He let me race the bike for one moto. Really smoked the whole class. Neddless to say his dad was pissed at him for letting me ride his bike.

How many times can we all say this has happened, meet someone and don't really care for em and then awhile later they turn out to be one of your better friends,,

As a BMXer in Sacramento, CA in the mid to late 70’s I remember kids would always put a lot of pressure on other kids who had had nicer bikes or parts. We used to say that kid is "trickin himself out". This term was usually thrown out when a kid with Cook hubs or something trick couldn’t ride as well as we thought he should. When I think of it now it doesn't even sound like English but that's what we used to say! Of course words like “looped, endo, gnarly and squid” were also in my 70’s BMX vocabulary. I’m sure it was just a matter of one kid being jealous of another kid. Maybe it was all in my mind but I clearly remember thinking that I better be able to ride well enough to justify the parts I just bought with my paper route money!

I got interested in BMX in 1980, but it took me over two years to save up for my first race bike. In the meantime, a friend of mine whose parents had money got a tricked out Diamond Back and started racing. The first time I raced after getting my bike I beat him and he quit racing.

Had one kid in Tucson, Robert Smith. His dad owned 5 banks & Robert had a Hutch Pro Star, fully loaded. Very nice bike, but he really didn't do anything but cruise around on it & brag. I guess i would too if I had that bike. I had my DB Turbo & actually raced with it.

AtomicPunk
not one kid in my neighborhood had a good bike, except the stoner bullies a few blocks over who rode stolen diamond backs and mongooses.
