Your 1983 Mike Buff Taco Bell is one of my all time favorites, I've seen that on here before. Truly inspirational. I think I'm done trying to start new bike projects, but I would love to have one like that. The other PK is great too, love the super authentic SE pad and the gold. --thanks for the pics.
Let's get the PK pic thread going again. Post those pics.

Total props to the lightning bolt number plate too. NICE. I love OS number plates. A blue and sivler Haro Type 2 was the first number plate I ever owned, and the hardest to find later on.

Here is a Bob Haro Factory secret trick tip for you...
Before putting your numbers onto his plates... take an Xacto knife and contour cut around the lightning bolts...
peel them back out of the way and then put your numbers down onto the plate.
After that just roll back the lightning bolts over the numbers and you will have a totally factory Bob Haro custom made in the pits before your moto look.
Now thats Old School!

gorgeous pk's and quads in this post. can someone shed some light on the variance in SE Blue that existed BITD? Honestly, I recall some very milky "baby" blue pk's and flovals... but many of the recent bikes i've seen have had a much deeper and vibrant "SE Blue."
What's the story on "SE Blue??????"
Thanks all...
Rob.

That exact photo of your bike was how I decided to put the stickers on my own PK at the top of this thread. I must have seen it posted a year or so ago. We used to sticker our bikes heavily bitd so I was already a big sticker fan, but after I saw that picture of your PK from back in the 80's I knew I wouldn't be happy until I hit one side of mine with the heavy rub-on stickers to recreate a similar old school look. I never get tired of seeing that side of my bike. You are the original though, thank you for the inspiration.

I'm pretty sure the light blue is the original color. I think the darker blues like I have are a less authentic repro look that has developed over the years, but I may be wrong. I'd actually prefer to have light blue because I think it is more true to the old school, but as with everything in OS BMX, sometimes you just have to settle for what you can get.

I believe the darker blue is original.
Colours as listed back in 1983 were:
Bitchen Black
Bold Blue
Rippin' Red
Factory Flyer Light Blue
Washboard White
I have to say I also have a bit of a soft spot for the (Factory Flyer) Light Blue

The darker blue is original. The Factory Boy Blue, or whatever it was called was exactly that, a factory rider only color. That's why all us SE heads wanted that color so bad. Scot did that with several items, particularly the BW leathers. There were at least three color combos depending on your sponsorship level.
Anyway, heres my PK Ripper, vintage 83/84, along with my Factory Boy Blue 1972 Mustang.

Wow, I am flattered that my old photo was an inspiration to anybody. Those were some great times. I have always been extremely fond of PK Rippers, when I saw Hesterman's at Rockford I just sat there and stared at them in total awe. My bike in the photo was an attempt at the Buff's bike, stickers ruled back then. PK & Hutch, are you going to Rockford? I will definetly be there, I have already booked my room at the Clocktower. I look forward seeing you guys and hunting down "The Motor".

Oh, I thought we were talking about decal colors, not paint. I owned a dark blue looptail PK back in the day so yeah it was the original. It definitely wasn't light blue. Miss that bike.

Guys,
Forgive my ignorance here, I have been away from this stuff for over 20 years now. Here is my deal: I have a '83ish PK Ripper looptail that was originally Dark Blue. I got a wild hair as a kid and stripped all of the paint off and polished the frame. Now I would like to restore it back to original but I need help with the color code. I guess I was thinking about power coating the frame and Landing gear back to this origianl color. Is this the prefered method of "painting" these days? What about sticker pack availability? Mine were light blue back in the day. What about pad availability? I had the brown with light blue wings. Any help is greatly appreciated. email direct if you wish: MikeCampbell@Charter.Net and reference PK Ripper in your topic or I will delete it.
Thanks,
Mike Campbell
