OK, so I've been trying to find info on some frames I remember BITD (early/mid 80's) in Brisbane Australia. I believe they were called Super L.A. - short for Superlight Aluminium. The last I remember was talking to a hardcore Jehovah's witness ex-bmxer. I was in his garage & peeped a superb Looptail PK Ripper & Redline RL20 II - both of these were favourites of mine. Anyway, I looked at his PK & it had been repaired (beautifully I might add) with the whole rear end of what he said was S.L.A tubing. I then flashed back to earlier years & seem to remember their frames being dope. Long story short, anyone got ANY info on or know what the hell I'm talking about?

My mate Darren Webb raced a SLA back in the 80's.....Very light but sadly they suffered the same problems as the PK's.

Check out Coasty's SLA frame with the familiar damaged section (Same place that my mate Darrens SLA frame broke too.

Yep that's the one! Darren Webbs name is familiar (I didn't race but a an old friend did/is still a Pro & I had an interest..) Ask him if they made Cruisers - I want one as I'm getting all patriotic these days. OK, maybe I'll look for a Quiksilver too...

hey I used to race a Super LA still got it as a matter of fact got some old frame sticker sets too. I had an aluminuim frame and broke it and Graeme Stevens the guy who built them in Brisbane gave me a Chrome Moly frame thats the one i've still got. Don't think he made an ally 24" but I'm pretty sure he made a Cro Mo one but.

G'day from Warrnambool in South West Vic. I have an intersting bike that I hope someone can shed some light on! It is a Super L.A. Sidehack. I bought it off a mate who had it for around 10 years untill his kids grew out of it, just as my kids were growing into it. He had no history on it, except he got it at a garage sale and had replaced many bolt on parts as the good stuff had been repalced with junk parts, also, most of the bits he added were from other wrecked bikes he came across. Since I bought it I have replaced the front wheel with an Eagle(Made by ENKEI) front ALLOY wheel(no it is not a painted skyway!!), found an original sticker set which I got copied, replaced the 1 piece crank with a freshly polished 3 piece set and bear trap pedals, made 1 wheel cover(I plan to make more, or maybe full gaurds when time allows!!) and generally cleaned it up. There is still a few bits to do, but my kids still love riding it, as do heaps of other kids from the Warrnambool BMX club. It has the standard broken seat clamp(Warranty?????) The frame is a smaller size with the build No. SLA0512. I presume the hack is from factory as it is a very professional job, can ANYONE tell me more?? The plan is to keep working on it one little bit at a time, but as my kids(and everyone elses kids) love riding it it will never get a full "As new" resto, I just want to make a cool old bike reliable, fun and get enjoyed!! Thanks!! I will try to get some pics of it up when i work out how??

I had one too. Got it from DBS (discount bike sales) Wembly rd Shopping Centre, Woodridge in about 1986. I loved it! It was crome, with blue stickers. I got one after seeing a mate out at Ipswich and west moreton track racing one.
