I have 2 or 3 of them but they are from the last turn. Not very good either. I'll scan them tonight and post them up.

PS: Remember the way the rink used to smell? Always got a kick out of that.

That place was so friggin cool. I would love to contact the old owner and hit him up for some photos and details of that place. The rink was cool. The Pizza joint inside. All great memories.

Would love to see any photos you have.

I have a ton of pictures from Rt. 5, but they are all at my parent's house. I don't think I'll get there until May. I think I have one of Steve behind the counter. The pizza shop had the best meatball grinders, along with the Mr. Do machine which I flipped one day. I also liked Bower and Tack, the guard dogs. One of them used to eat rocks, I forget which one.

Damn dude if you could post em that would be rad. Ive explored all avenues looking for pictures and come up empty handed. Pics of the shop are a big plus. Hope you can remember to grab em next time your home.
Just JeffB now
Wasn`t the dude that ran it named Jim Parrot? There was a skatepark there if I remember right...Cool place.

I`ve been looking for pics of Connecticut BMX from BITD and apparently no one took any pictures back then. Falcon BMX was a legend and I have yet to see a picture that does the track justice.

*sigh*
Mike Rodrigues CRIT PLATE
Hey Just Jeff,

I believe you are thinking of Bristol BMX that Jim was involved with along with his indoor skate park...

My Crit Plate Factory rider Mike Savage worked for Jim for about a thousand years and I remember when they opened Bristol.

I am not sure of the track operators name who owned the track, ice rink and dual pro shops...

But I do remember going up to the RT 5 track at the '84 CT state championships to drop of the Crit Plate State Plates
and also going into the shop to restock plates on the wall.

I may have the info in storage somewhere if nobody can come up with it.

According to an old article I found (1987) the owner of Route 5 BMX was a guy named Steven Grigorian. Route 5 had a track and a ramp section outside the building. They had atleast one big vert ramp, maybe more but I cant recall.

The one thing I do remember about the track was the gate. That was the steepest gate I have ever started on!!!.

Have to scan the photos tonight

I wish I could remember the name of the big dude who ran the gate by hand. He had that pole which he'd put into the gate and then pull it up by hand. Crazy. I'd thank him for all that work he did running gates for us. I'd also remind him of the time he left the lock on the gate and flipped all eight of us on the first gate of practice. Ouch.

Heres a few shots of the old Bristol Track that Jim Parrot Started, Who can forget Savage Mountain?

Rt 5 on Wednesday nights was a gas! How about the sound of that big compressor outside the ice rink? Talk about a flat track. Dick Montgomery was the announcer there most of the time will fill-in provided by the great Jim Johnson.

The old owner still owns the place. They just do hockey now as they did long before BMX and skateboarding.

Still some cool memories there. Saw the bones brigade skate there in 1987 in a gravel parking lot.
Raced bmx bikes in 1984 when I was 11.

If your ever in ct take a trip the place hasnt changed much. The BMX track is gone along with the vert ramp.

But still good pizza inside
