Can anyone tell me more about PMC products? I've seen their cranks, hubs & seat clamps & they are lovely. When & where were they made & are any of their products available (apart from Ebay.) I'm looking for a 1 1/8" seat clamp if anyone's got one in good condition. Would part trade my Profile 180's for a set of cranks if anyone's got any..

Cheers,
Justin.

PMC AKA Phoenix Machine Company were produced here in Phoenix, AZ. Around 94 they started and by 96 they shut down shop. They made Cranks, Hubs, Seat Clamps, Head Locks. Brand X also was using alot of the same tooling and same Annodizer. I raced for them back in 94-95 here in Phoenix, they really never had a team just gave out parts to kids who they thought were good and went to Nationals.

Good Luck trying to trade those Profiles. I have 6 sets of Profiles and 1 set of PMC's.

Cheers Buddha! I'm new to this forum & worried that I'll never get off it - such is the wealth of knowledge & passion. I've found some PMC cranks NOS online in 1 maybe 2 places but think I'll hold off as they certainly aren't cheap. There stuff looks fantastic (machining is my backgound..) Think I may have got hold of a seatclamp for my Nomorea. It's a start..

I raced the owners son. His dad was a perfectionist! The first 2 runs of cranks broke pretty badly and then he started machining them alittle beefier in Bottom Bracket and Pedal Bosses and all was fixed. I know for a fact I snapped 3 sets of the first gen cranks! I just wish i would have saved all my parts instead of getting rid of them. If you can snag the PMC hubs on Ebay. They are some of the nicest spinning hubs I had/have ever ridden. Completely sealed, no way to get into the hub unless you really screw up the collars.

Good Luck!

Does anyone know exactly when they started. I got my PMC hubs in very early 94 (jan-march area), is that when they first hit the market? I thought I remember them being around for a few months before that.

I will tonight watch my old racing videos( ilove having an excuse to watch them) to see when I see me racing with the cranks! It could have been 93 late but I honestly forget. They were around for about 1 1/2 years but they really had distribution problems. He ran a FULL machine shop and did this on the side. People got tired of ordering and him taking his time producing.

I will let you know what I turn up.

Thanks. Come to think of it I definitely remember seeing the cranks at the 93 grands and I think thats what inspired me to look into them more, causing me to get the hubs.

I just found a MINT PMC 1-1/4" seatpost clamp that I put up on Ebay if anyone is interested. Yeah, there's a link down in the auction links page.

I was hanging out with a buddy of mine who raced at Chandler in 93' when I first saw/heard of PMC cranks. These aluminum cranks that had no bearings, only bushings smile.gif I only remember this because I was 18 when we hung out wink.gif
