I have searched all over the internet looking for info on General freestyle bikes. I had a pink one in the late 80's and my dad tossed it while I was in the Navy. I would love to restore one but I cant find any info on the bikes. I dont even know what the diffrent models were. All I can remeber is that RL Osbourne was sponsered by them. And if I cant find one to restore then I guess Im going to try and restore a Haro Master. I had a 1987 (I think) Blue one. Any opinions on what masters are better to restore becuase any mid 1980's one would be cool, but I want to get one that can be done right.

i would say search for a general....master are WAY common around these parts.

Yeah, there was a general RL osborn model, the more common (although still rare since they weren't really "mass" produced like Haro's and GT's.) was the Fred Blood model. But, I think it was trimoly if I remember right...

Here is a pic of a "osborn pro" model. by my boy John

My Osbourne did not have a double top tube like the one in the picture. The bike in the picture looks more like a Haro Master to me.

I posted some photos I shot of RL and Fred Blood in Times Square. The bikes are fairly visible.

Hope this helps.

Im also intrested if anyone knows what years the RL Osbourne / Fred Blood Generals were made I think mine may have been a 1987. I know for a fact that mine was a first year model. I remeber the guy at the bike shop telling me that I would be the first person in the local area to own a General freestyle bike because he only had the bike for a week in his shop. The way it ended up I was the only person in my local area to ever own a General because the bike shop stopped selling them 6 months later for some reason and that was it, no more General's in my local area.

RL's bike does seem to have a double top tube from what I can see. Mabey I had the Fed Blood model because my bike looked exactly like the one that Fred's on in the picture, It even has the same stickers on it. The only diffrence is that mine was hot pink. Thanks for the pictures!!!

Yeah, my younger brother had the Rl model and it had a double top tube. Frame was Ok but the General RL bars that came with the complete bike were the biggest pieces of junk ever made - I will never forget watching the bars snap and pierce my brother chest - 48 stitches, large amounts of pectoral muscle torn - thank God for ribs...

Thanks for the link.I now know that I had a 1984 Hustler. There is a picture of the very same bike that I had. Even the color, wheels and tires are the same. Now the $1,000 question is any ideas where I can find one, or part of one?

This is what comes to mind when you say 'early, pink, single TT, General':

Ad from 6-86

This ad is slightly later, when Fred Blood got on the team:

Close-up of a used one:

This is not the very first General, though. I know they were out if '85 with both a Master and Sport knock-off, down to the solid white and similar graphics. I don't have a pic handy.

In '87 the Hustler Pro seen above became the Fred Blood Hustler Pro. RL rode one briefly before his Osbourn Pro came out. Slightly different frame, two-tone chrome, and different graphics.

Put an ad in the "wanted" section, and save an eBay advanced search for 'General Hustler' and one will eventually turn up. Good luck.
