Here it is. I have been in bikes over 20 years and Nothing I have had or seen is built like this. You can definately tell a pro road race frame builder built this.

Wow that is a beautiful frame. Looks like a Burner built by a road bike builder. Nice!

I have a pair of them forks, any idea how rare they are?

Don't mean to sandbag your thread.. I have this NOS belt buckle, wasn't Bottema # 195 or was that Toby? I forget.

Nice frame/fork... man!!!

I used to have that buckle! It's Bottema, same shot as a Raleigh poster.

My LBS was a big Raleigh dealer. We had Jeff and Toby out for a clinic prior to a WOS at Boystown one year. Those frames were built in the "Record room" at the factory in England. Same place as the high end road frames. The funny thing was, it was the same era as the big "contingency programs" for the pros. Basically big money for national wins if you ran X parts and sticker on your plate. So both of their bikes were loaded down with very heavy stuff (Tuffs, etc.) Combined with the Bottema forks, each bike weighed around 28 lbs!

Frame was a work of art, though.

I have the belt buckle too in its box found near my home in old shop. I also have the Team Issue road frameset Jeff was given by Raleigh TI. All the credit for me having these goes to Ben Joy. I just had to pay for them. I had always drooled over that frame the first time I saw the picture of Toby's in Super BMX. The one Waza has with the cable slot through the gussett I have never seen other than a picture either. Darn nice condition too.

Now thats what I call rare , you struck gold with that find . There wern't many bmx bike's built that well back then , so you might want to keep that in a safe place . If you can't find a spot I'dd be willing to hold it for you .

Pure beauty. I have been looking for that frame for years. My all out most favorite frame/bike of all time! Please post some shots if you ever move forward with building it up - and let me be the first to know, if you ever decide to sell it. Thanks – BuZz.

there is a raleigh belt buckle with the 195 on it on ebay right now.

When I got in old school about 10 years ago, I contacted Toby via THE. He put me back in tocuh with Jeff. Jeff never mentioned he kept anything except one DG1 bike. He said he would "give" me the bike. I offered to pay. Regardless it never happened. Fast forward to 2006. Jeff and I were talking and he says he in fact has "all" his old stuff in storage.

Tim Cook, Greyboy, DaveC, Az1bmxer plus others bought items via eBay or direct. I misjudged another friend also wanted this frame. I apologize again. For what was paid, your wife would have thanked me for selling to Dave happy.gif .

Any pictures of the matching Road frame or the team uniform?
Thumperpilot
We have the Raleigh Team uniforms from both Jeff and Toby at ABA. They are the ones from the JT era. We also have Jeff's Red Raleigh Bell Moto III helemt with the big yellow "R" on the side. That is a very cool frame and a nice piece of history, but I was always more partial to the BMX Products made version of those frames.

A buddy of mine had a shop co-sponsor deal with Raleigh. He had a blue BMX Products frame with Bottema forks. At the WOS at Boystown, toby crashed and had a very small tear in the knee of the JT pants. He ended up selling them to my friend for like $10. The pants had "TOBY" stitched on the rear so his name officially changed from Juan to Toby!

ding ding ding, this post just hit the magic word!
"Juan" ended up with Toby's pants......for....one....million....dollars....distributing! wink.gif

that is truly a work of art and a fantastic piece of BMX history. The whole Bottema/Toby on Raleigh thing was always intriguing. Raleigh BMX was never a prominent force in American BMX, but those two sure gave the program credibility. The bikes described above with Graphites and Bottema forks, along with the ultra-stylish riding of "The Coca Cola Cowboy" and Bottema (in their red/yellow/black JT kits) made for some of the most poetic "Hot Shots" to ever grace the pages of BMXA.

i am so stoked to see that frame. it is a work of art. it is reynolds 501 tubing? so much of the frame is similar to what is being produce today. look at those dropouts and compare them to a a frame being produced today. real close. so cool.

That TI team road frame is my holy grail frame. I had one custom built for me when I lived in the UK. I sold it before I left. sad.gif

I had the pleasure of being at the old Raleigh warehouse in the late 70s when Jeff and Toby were there. The talked about their trip to the UK factory and how they met members of the mighty TI Raleigh Creda team. They also talked about attempting to use 753 Reynolds tubing in their BMX frames with little success. A little too tough on it I imagine.

They gave us about 20 of those belt buckles, Sadly, I didn't keep one; still a great day I will remember for years.

I have the Belt Buckle in the box too. You'll notice Jeff is riding the BMX Products frame in the belt buckle shot. LOL!!!
