So BITD when racing was at its peak how many times a week did you race?
What tracks and on what days...

On a local level I would race 4 times a weekend at 4 different tracks. A friday night race, Sat morning/afternoon, Sat night, and Sunday.
State and National races would be 2 per weekend.

Per week: twice a day at various locations ( Nor-Cal ).
1) Morning sessions: Hellyer park, Orion Park, Watsonville, Aptos, Fremont BMX, and Atwater BMX
2) Evening sessions: Morgan Hill, Merced Raceway, Fremont BMX.
Usually if were racing at Solano County, we'll do Atwater in the morning followed by Merced BMX at night.
Those were the days.....

Can't remember all the tracks , but i remember racing ABA on Sat morning( maybe hopkinton and Northboro) and hope that i won the first moto so i would go right to the main. then race again at 2:00 ( taunton???) then get to another track for night racing.

Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday and Friday nights. At one point there were 3 races on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. Not sure of the tracks but all in either Mass or RI (I don't think that I did any CT exceprt for state races). I use to love to go to other states and take thier # 1 plates from them.

Wow! Thats alot of races. When BMX was at its highest here in Hawaii we had at the most one race per month. So if you lost you had one whole month to think about it. And now there is no sanctioned track at all.........a real big bummer!

We would race Fri Night at Stockton or Merced, Saturday at Atwater AM / Chowchilla around 2pm and Merced at night.
The valley always had good competition and lots of tracks.
If we were just racing bay area tracks, lets see - We'd do Hellyer on Saturday AM, Morgan Hill Sat PM and Watson Park Sunday - Watson would pull 80 motos sometimes on a good day.
We would even race at the Malibu GP course on Wed Nights in Redwood City.
Lots of racing, couldn't get enough!

3 times a week in South FL. The tracks varied over the years. The most common combo was probably Boystown/Miami/Kendall on Friday, Homestead on Saturday and Coral Springs on Sunday.

Hey Robby,
I think the this is how it went...
Wednesday night: Town Hall BMX in Johnston, RI (Your Dads track)
Thursday night: Nooseneck Hill in East Greenwich, RI (They later went to Friday nights)
Friday night: Robin Hollow BMX in Cumberland, RI
Friday night: Groton CT
Saturday morning: Hopkinton, MA
Saturday afternoon: Northboro, MA
Saturday night: Rocky Hill BMX in East Greenwich, RI
Sunday: At first it use to be Nutmeg BMX in Danielson, CT
After they closed down it used to Wakefield, MA
or Gillford, CT (The Landons track!)
Thats not including any double or triple points races at other tracks in New England that we went to on a regular basis.
I could be mistaken on some of the race nights I might have one or two mixed up...

During the summer in Jersey is was definitely 3 days a week, Oakland/Braddock/Raceway Park/Howell. In the winter, the JC Armory was the only gig around.

Saturdays were the best... We use to go into MA and race 2 ABA races and some times if we got out of Northboro quick enough there was another track we used to try to make around mid day... Then jet back to RI for night racing at Rocky Hill.
4 times in one day two different sanctions.
Burnt out... No Way!

We mostly raced once per week but on occasion we raced Windsor on a Friday night, Redlands on a Saturday afternoon and then a regional (SE Queensland, Australia) race on a Sunday. I remember that at the height of BMX in Australia some of the regional races drew 7 or 8 heats of 13, 14 and 15 year old novice and 4 or 5 heats of experts in those age groups. It was a feet just to make the main - 3 heats, quarters, semis and then the main - I'm tired just thinkin' about it...

Rob,
That was John Dusfraine (yes I hacked his last name)
Him and his mom one day just hopped onto the tractor and started to make a sick downhill carved into the hillside of the backyard... John was a nut case when it came to jumping and that track was like Hell Track but real!

In Vegas there was only one track Williams raceway on Saturdays. The NBA had the Desert Surf Track...Homer (Team Homer's Force) ran an ABA Track so you could get in another day after a few years.........
When I was chasing NBA points I used to drive from Vegas after school on Friday and meet the Christophers in Burbank. They would take me to races that their dad pulled the gate on.I would get in the youth center, Canyon country, and usually get in 5 races by Sunday night, then drive home to Vegas for school on Monday. They were like a second family.....
